LEGO Technic airport rescue vehicle (MOC) - inspired by 42068 set

The appearance of this Airport Rescue Vehicle is similar to the 42068 LEGO set. However, the interior and the functionality is completely different. This MOC consist of 100% LEGO parts. Nevertheless, this fire truck can extinguish fire with two working water monitors.
The truck does have two pneumatic pumps, four pneumatic air tanks (water container), two PF L motors, two PF M motors, 1 PF servo motor and one PF power switch and is controlled by two PF IR sender/receiver. In total, there are six functions available.

Hi. Looked at lego technic airport crash unit and was disappointed with limited power functions. Your version is what this unit should be capable to begin with. Looking forward to instructional video how how you did it. Awesome job, sir!

Thanks. I guess it would be to expensive for a lego set with the air tanks and all the motors. Furthermore, I guess that Lego doesn't want, that anyone ruin his flat with water from the water monitors ;)

I finally got it! If you don't have airtanks you can replace it with tons of long hoses :)

:) yes you can but then the water storage will be limited. It is better to use a small bottle, where you drill two holes into to cap with some kind of adapter.

Fine! Progress is very slow, but I think, in a month or so I'll finish #ProjectZ. I reconstructed the whole chassis, managed new motors and gears, and finished the cabin and the hood. Now I have to order parts in the right color and finish the crane. Then I thin it's done :) The SBrick profile is ready and working fine. You can find some pictures of the state from a two month ago at flickr. In the following days I'll publish a new track test here on my channel.

I guess, you're right ;) Video will take a little longer. Just disassembled the front axle because I have to improve steering. On the last test drive it pressed the wheels apart from the rest :/ I fear: Too much torque

Hi, yes there will be more details about how it works in the next video. Furthermore, I will take some pictures about the mechanics soon. However, you have to aware that only the body looks like 42068 but the interior is completely different and I won't be possible to build this truck with parts from 42068 set.

hi, i have built a lego rc fire truck too, but my lego compressor (1 pf xl motor + 2 small pumps) hasn't enough power to press out the water from my tank and now my whole truck gets flooded. any advice for that?

Hi, I guess the rpm of the PF XL motor are too low. Furthermore, do you use a water tank which you can pressure up? you need something like 2 bar that it works properly.

I will take some pictures about the mechanics. And if there is a big demand for instructions, then I will think about it to make some. However, this can only happen when I disasemble the MOC and at the moment it is too early to disasemble it.

hi, no you cannot. this model is around 1000-2000 bricks. You can use the RC from the set 42065.

It only looks like the 42068 set but it is completely different inside. chech my other videos and my webpage if you want to learn more about the inside. Mainly, I used PF L and PF M motors to motorize it. The water ist storred in a custom 3d printed water tank. The rest is 100% lega

I was thinking about this. But at larger scale I would need another solution for the water monitor. It would be better to have a water pump than a preassure tank with an air pump. I already developped a concept pump (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Oo9yrI7rSzw.html). However, this pump is rather large and unefficient. Therefore, it would be necessary to use non lego parts in order to build a resonable working water monitor.

Yeah, I've seen that video. Hey, what would you suggest for me to build using parts from the 42042 Crawler Crane and 42053 Volvo Excavator sets? I'm thinking of heavy machinery.

The obviouse thing woud be an excavator with caterpillars and pneumatic funtions. You could use the substructure from 42042 set and the pneumatic functions from 42053 set for the arm and shovel control. Maybe you need for that a bigger shovel, since the scale of the 42042 ist much bigger than the scale from 42053 set.

you cannot by it like this. If you buy the LEGO 42068, then it cannot spray water

At 2:45 it is leaking out the bottom.

Yes, it is due to the pneumatic valve which i used to switch between the two monitors. As long as you only use one monitor and don't switch to the other, then there is no leaking.
