229,99 euro for the 4x4 Crawler (42099) is just insane. Sure it has 3 motors, but it's only 958 pieces. In comparison Lieberr R9800 is 4.25x pieces with just 2x the price (motors & hubs are pretty much x2 so aligned with the price increase). Buying 42100 is pretty much getting enough parts for 4 42099 with enough electronics for 2. Unless they're planning some promotion for the holiday season, it's not worth buying for the release price and they know it, which is why they've split the 2 releases.
I have written an app [remoteCode] that allows you to customise almost everything that works with mindstorms brick, put some mindstorms motors in there and with my app and some coding your side, the world is yours.
Lol, exactly my first thought when I saw the app. Would super cool if Lego will add new technic element: attachable camera, so you can see image where are you going on you smartphone/tablet.
Wow now these no what kids want well done chaps I think it's the best technic that's ever come out I am ordering the excavator 42100 that is a monster of a toy I cant wait to get it and start to put it together 👍👍👍
Markus Kossman is a mechanical genius in my book. Not only was he the lead designer on the Liebherr R9800, but also the very large and complex Tecnic 42055 Bucket Wheel Excavator, and probably many others, too.
The models seem to move much better than for example the bucket wheel excavator that has the older power functions. I will definitely get at least one of the liebherr sets and may order some extras for the new parts when available. Great job Lego designers!!!
I think the lego technic team are top high calibre guys . I love the r9800 i will be purchasing onei remember lego in the early days and its just mind blowing now . Keep up the good work guys ....
42099 will be a milestone honestly, for the pieces it gives and for how educational it is. finally a dream set both for starters who wanna build serious offroaders and expert which will be pleased from the proper steering, strenght in general aaand ladies and gentlemen that planetary hubs with dedicated joints 😶 can't wait to test them! i want so madly big frames too and see the other new pieces, revolutionary wave. makes me hope for other awesome vehicles in the future! 👍
Bradley perry Not the best way to do it as the Bugatti is a limited edition, so will soon stop production and then the price will go through the roof for it!
It's amazing. I like both of them, the only one thing I don't like in Liebherr is its white color :(, white is changed after long time. I wish a version in yellow/red color :)
13:35 Turning the bottom part and rotating the upper structure at the same time has been possible since 2010. I fact, 8043 was the first excavator to do this. This is a nice model, though.
@ Assembled Thank you very much for posting! It has answered many questions I have had and confirmed my thoughts on how the 42100 is built and functions! The movement is really smooth and the way the base will rotate and the structure stays central is genius, you have to calculate the potential rotation of the tracks then rotate the super structure to the exact amount - that is no easy feet for plastic bricks. I do hope that we will be able to program the Hubs in the spike prime and Powered UP environments to get more out of them (especially multi hubs like Mindstorm).
Will you be able to make your own models with the controls? It's cool but it would be a shame if it means you can only control what lego wants you to build.
I'm actually really angry that they postponed the launch of the 42100. I pre-ordered it recently via a retailer and now it's not delivered during the summer holiday which I wanted to use to build it
@@sitsia3808 maybe they are saying only rich people can buy it. But the 1% is billionaires and most billionaires arent that into Lego. If I were a billionaire I would probably have Lego stores built in place that dont have them.
I'm assuming the excavator will finally introduce the long awaited powered up version of the Power Functions XL-Motor. I was really hoping this was addressed in the interview. Did it say 8 motors and 2 hubs? What is the connection like? Isn't there two connectors per hub? This is also something many people have been waiting to see how its going to be done. This wasn't addressed in the interview as well. Does these hubs have 4 connectors each or they have 2 connectors with special cables. Also I was expecting to finally see a locking mechanism for the differential in the 4x4 vehicle. The problem is that if one tire somehow stays off the ground, all other tires lose power as well :-( Also, the clutch i believe is totally useless in a powered up system since the hub can read what the rotation is from the motor so you can utilize a smart clutch with software only. everyone hates the clutch. I wish there was an updated differential instead of an updated clutch. Also its such a shame the arm of the excavator moves so slow. great new designs though. cant wait to buy them. thanks for sharing.
Great models! Don't know about the Liebherr, it's too expensive and boring-looking, but I will definitely buy the 4×4. Also, my main question is - how will this app work with custom models?
In an other video they told that for now the app is only working with these two particular models, but later on they will release the new motors and smart hub as separate items to buy, thus the system will be opened for MOC's too.
Wowser man that Liebherr machine is massive and huge amount of pieces. Wonder how long that build would be. THough what i could see, its super slow??? The arm was hardly moving :( Its also sits very very low, it hardly has ground clearance :( PS should this model have rubber studs on the tracks, i couldnt see if it actually had those. I noticed it was slipping a bit.
I must say the price difference is kinda a weird or not. I understand the bigger one is lots more. But comparing the 4x4 feels quite expensive compared to that big Liebhher model?
Lego sets translate weird too canadian dollar. Canada gets everything unreasonably cheap compared too our dollar value. I bet it hits stores for 599 canadian.
Not sure what you mean but I think the motor can monitor it's position when the hub is turned on. So first it calibrates itself by turning to the left and right and then knows where the center is. But b dounf this I also think that it's an digital sensor and not an alnalogue and it has to calibrate for the case that someone accidentily turned the wheels while the model was turned off. Question being is if the motor would also recognize when someone turns the wheels by hand while the hub is turned on.
@@j.friedrischak8000 I was wondering because of the one finger control you can see in the video. If you want to move the arm from one position to another, then the Hub needs to know how the arm is located in space means you need to know what the levels of the actuators are. Therefore, is necessary to calibrate the actuators but how this is done? With the clutch at each actuator (there is no fix connection between the actuator and the motor) and without a distance sensor I cannot imagine how this is done. How can the motor then know the position of the arm in space? But obviously it works pretty well.
Ah probably you need to bring the actuators manually in the start postion and define it as start postion (like a manual callibration). Then it would work.
Following the launch of the X-Treme Off-Roader the reason (in my opinion) for delaying the launch of the Excavator model seems to be down to the flaky App which should to connect to the new Lego hub;; I've tried it on two different mobile phones brands, both have which have Bluetooth 4.1 or higher, and neither will connect to the hub. I also see from on-line comments that others are having the same problems with different makes of phones -there is no problem with the hub as my Buwizz App connects to it in about 2 seconds. I feel I'm being used as a Guinea pig to test the Lego App and as a paying customer I find that disgraceful
hmmm he said a lot of torque because of the 1:5 ratio. Yet ive seen vids which clearly shows it doesnt have that power because the motors are to light.
Da gibt man sich so viel Mühe mit dem Liebherr und dann werden wieder farbige Pins an Stellen eingesetzt wo es einem nur noch schlecht werden kann... Warum schnallen die das nicht??
Hallo was mich beim Liebherr nur stört. Es scheinen alles Aufkleber zu sein. Bei dem Preis hätte man die Teile auch bedrucken können. Aber den muss ich trotzdem haben. Gruß Oliver
Assembled Seriously!? I don’t understand why Lego is so behind when it comes to batteries! This is not 1980 anymore - safe Li-Ion batteries are cheap and plentiful.
Der Kameramann hat hier einen super Job gemacht, da es galt, zugleich den Liebherr als auch die App-Präsentation zu filmen. Zeige uns gerne deine Videos und wie es besser geht.
