This is phenomenal! It’s the pinnacle of Lego Engineering I love it! The little details like the pulley brake system, coupling between trains etc. everything is hands free! It’s what I wanted from my Hornby train sets when I was young :) Great job again!

Thanks! I love making the improvements. The first build was without the braking system so it was useless haha. I have been working on the steam train so now it's got 2 compressors with 24 air pumps in total. It's still not fast but it is driving with more power. I will upload a video in a couple days I hope.

Hi guys, my train elevator was a bit inspired by the super cool Ship Lift in Belgium (Strepy Thieu). That lift lifts a whole ship and water bucket up 73.15 metres! My train elevator is actually even more difficult to balance because the ship lift can use the water to make the water bucket + ship the same weight as the massive concrete counter weights. So thats why I made some counter weights that can be lifted/dropped to match the train weight with the counter weights. Check out the ship lift Strepy Thieu here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pTTaKkMmZRI.html

How long did the string (cabel) work take it must have been a very precise and fine tuning experience and for your gears aswell when so many things shall work at the exact same time and in sync with the wheels to hold the string 😀
@legotechnictrains8999
@legotechnictrains8999 Год назад
Everything done in a couple days. Actually getting everything to work was pretty easy, that's how good Lego is! Haha. The biggest challenge was to get it to hold level and not drop or jump up. So therefore I installed worm gears, a brake system and counterweights.
@nomadMik
@nomadMik Год назад
@@legotechnictrains8999 Are the smaller counterweights for fine-tuning? I didn't really understand why they kept on going up and down, just because the points changed.
@reinei1
@reinei1 Год назад
@@nomadMik afaik yes, they provided a counter balancing mass to keep the force the upper lift segment needs to exert to a minimum (since the small weights on the ground don't add any force while those higher up do) You can also see the need for readjustment when the engine was disembarking on the second floor (counting the lower one as "floor one"): The entire bridge jumped up slightly because it suddenly became lighter than the counter balancing weights and almost destroyed the continuity of the tracks

In this video on the shelves are the curves with straight beams but in other videos you can also see the smooth curves. The process to get the beams slightly bent is pretty funny but it's maybe a bit too crazy for Lego fans. When 100K people subscribe I will make a video about the beam bending!

A while ago someone was 3D printing wheels for me but we have not finished the project. The wheels were a size bigger than the 2695 wheels that I use in this video. There are actually more things to think about than you expect and a millimeter can make a difference. Just like the 2695, my wheels need a wide flange of 1 stud width in order to work with the switchpoints. So the normal Lego train wheels (and alternatives) will not work out for me. But a large scale 2695 would be a good starting point. Most dimensions need to be te same only the height/width bigger. I hope you're a Lego 3Dprint expert! Can you make some wheels for my trains??
