Also I made a Studio model of this so that people can upload the .io file to BrickLink to automatically create a Wanted List. That way they can order the parts. Someone ordered it today and said it cost them $35 including the shipping. Look for it on the #free-instructions channel on the Discord Server.
I didn’t have all of the parts for this engine so I had to improvise. After hours of mind numbing adjustments I was finally able to get it running at it was so satisfying. Thanks for the video and for people looking to build this, don’t give up! Even if you don’t have all the parts, get creative and use the different parts to get the job done. Only thing you absolutely need the exact same pieces for is all the crankshaft parts. The small 1 and 1/2 pieces are essential for the engine to run and they have to be at a 90 degree angle to the 2 hole cranks on the piston side.
Kfplus, I’ve been making loads of engines now and I’ve found that a 2 cylinder 4x4 is the fastest for me. The single cylinders I have built are way slower with no throttle response. How do you make your singles so quick?
I made the exact same one cylinder as he did and it runs the exact same. Try experimenting with his mechanism and make sure to lubricate the parts for best results
I built it just now and it sounds amazing and is really fast. I didn't want to glue the piston head and I accidentally started my vacuum on full power and it sucked the head right of 🤣 I needed to substitute some critical parts since I didn't have them available but it still runs incredibly smooth. Really nice work 👍
Thats a signature "feature" of LVEs.. they are loud and vibrate a lot. I can shake my entire house with just one fast engine, its crazy. Maybe I will design a counterweight for the crankshaft!
@@3rd_ACC did you have any trouble with it being stiff? i cant tell if its my flywheel being small or the crank is rubbing against the conrods. with the vacuum attatched nothing happens despite how fast i spin it
This works so well even though I improvised so much even if you don't have the parts it still works cant wait to see new videos and a tutorial with a shifter.
Amazing video man thanks so much I got it to work after you said the Half crank had to be 90 degrees ahead of the other piece, very important and it was so satisfying after I fixed it
im not sure if you’ll see this, but does this require a powerful vacuum? i followed your guide and had a look at other tutorials, and the engine is properly assembled but wont run.. i regularly put water in there to lubricate it when testing and it does the job. any tips?
Little tip to make your vaccum engine significantly faster instead of using the 1x1 hole on both sides for the intake. Just use it on one side, and then you will get a lot more airflow into your cylinder, which will give you higher performance. I hope this helps :)
I had all parts at home and it works perfectly thank you ❤. It just took me 5 hours to find them all in all my Lego chests. 😂 Now mine is even pretty much all red 🔴
I followed every step , watched it more than once, and checked over everything I don’t understand how it’s not running Edit: just kidding! I have been messing with it for the past hour and now it runs great
idk why and who and what and when but i somehow got the idea to search for lego motor and found this part of the lego community, want to build one very soon if i have the pieces, great video!
Can you make one using technical Legos? They are considerably more stable and offer much more functions than conventional ones which I think would be interesting to see. Anyways, your engine worked really well thx 😁
I finally made it. A solid connection DOHV Lego vacuum engine using a 4x4 piston. The base is only studs in length, and six in width. I believe this is going to be the first of this kind on RU-vid. (I inspired it from my other design for the chain driven one) I'll post it sometime soon :D :D. After some research I believe that it might possibly be the fastest of the pushrods ( With consideration that solid connections are like a family of the cam actuated ones).
@@KFPlusLegoMastery yes but that design revolves around cams. My design does not need springs. Thank you. Ill post it soon. I feel like I don't do a good job at explaining it lol
pretty good tutorial! i would love to see something like this but a tutorial of the rotary valve lve. it seemed really smooth and i want to know how to make it
i made a similar engine but when i get closer to 6000 the piston is moving up and down so fast that it rips it off the crankshaft and it shoots through the top of the engine
Can you please make a video explaining not how to build a lego vacuum engine, but the parts and how it works. I really want to build a lego engine but I just don’t think I’m understanding everything. I know this is a tutorial but I would rather build my own design
You have a valid point my friend. I will be doing an in-depth video about how an LVE works along with how to calculate its displacement in cc. Stay tuned!
You can very easily replace that piece for a 2 stud long one, you may have to adjust the length of the valve connecting rod but it would definitely work. My first LVE on youtube utilized that crank setup and it worked just fine.
Just made one of my own, and I gotta say, I'm impressed. I don't have a wheel that big but I got one that works, I also tweaked the throttle a little and I noticed slight improvement. Cheers! Side note: how do you keep your vacuum on the engine? Mine is constantly slipping off, also whats the song playing in the background towards the end?
@@wezeledelman761 I did, but it still managed to slip off. It's not a super big issue as I can just hold it there, but enough to where it's a little annoying. The tire works great as a seal tho
Hey this might sound like a big favor but can someone help me track down these pieces or at least point me in the right direction? Really want to make one of my own after seeing this video and all these comments.
@@KFPlusLegoMastery what would happen? Sorry I’m not good with engines…. Anyways one question is that is there a substitute for the two grey pieces that have two crosses in them. They are thin and rounded and used for the piston to keep it in place
@@acast7 To answer your question, yes. You can substitute those two pieces with 4 of the half-stud axle bushings (they’re usually yellow or light grey color). Works exactly the same- Good question!
Hi everyone, I just finished building this awesome engine! But I am struggling to get it to start. Does the vacuum have to seal really well against the intake? Or any other tips to help get it started!! Thanks 🙏
Trying to make it but don't have the right pieces could you tell me what the small orange thing at the too left if the parts part is and same with the wheel
THANK YOU VERY MUCH i builded it and it sounds like beast and yeah i didnt glue my parts and i did max throttle and the engine just breaked but its easy to fix
Kfplus, I know it’s been a year since you made this tut but is there a different part I can use instead of the beige thing you called the crank? I don’t have one and i really need to make my engine work. Hope you reply 😊
Great video i modded the engine with a bigger and wider piston and cylinder with the valve and intake the same as this video after I built it and i got it up to 12,000 RPM and the piston rod cracked 2 times on the crank end i had to wear ear protection because it was as loud as a sport car with no muffler it was insane also my cylinder wasn’t see through because it decreases power if you make the cylinder nontransparent then it will increase power
@@KFPlusLegoMastery I’ll post it once I fix my vacuum engines cracked cylinder, when I built it the way you did no mods it could withstand the high RPM no problem after I modded it, it couldn’t withstand the high RPM every time, causing cylinder and crank failures it only hits 11 to 12,000 RPM after putting a lot of oil in the directly into the cylinder because I saw a video from someone who pushed a LEGO engine to 12k RPM and it blew up that’s how I learned the max speed for legos
Hey I’ve made the whole engine but I need help with putting the vacuum on and getting it to spin with the vacuum and to get to consistently spin can you please post a video on your tick-tock on your RU-vid telling us how to get it to start spinning
my engine is a mystery, is just doesn't work.. i did the valve timing right and it keeps getting stuck when i try to run it.. it is the vacuum cleaner or what it can be?
Yo this is so cool and i just built it and then i made a v2 of your design for better sucktion mount and i also remade the piston head so it wont pop while giving full throttle so yeah thx for ''tut vid''
this does not work at all I hook a vacuum up to it and it just pulls the valve up and doesn’t go down and it breaks the whole accelerator thing due to suction??
Hi I tried to make this and I couldn’t get it working and I followed all your instructions I try to remake it over and over I cannot figure it out can you help me?
Thanks i had to improvise cause i was missing some parts 😅but it works well and the piston glueing part is very important cause the 4x4 part might fall off
