I made the village footprint bigger by four baseplates, changed the layout to move the ski and climbing center to the back, and created an enclosed Main Street. I've included many builds from the 2023 Advent calendars and the December GWPs - one advantage of finishing the village in January. 😂 In this video, I take you on a tour of my winter village that is protected by Snow Guardians, has Snowtroopers hanging out, and the Avengers taking over the Alpine Lodge.

@@CalliesBricks Well, I'm curious about what next year's village is going to be. Building with MILS plates instead of traditional baseplates makes an interesting conversation I would say. My take is it's practicality (MILS) vs. creative freedom (baseplates). The animals in your village work really well IMO and the four cats referencing your own cats really give it a personal touch. I should stop talking and start building & filming myself!

Yeah, it will be a balance. Adding details to the middle of the scene was painful and hard. I think I will plop the building across the plates and remove a MILS at a time for details and minifigure placement then add the big stuff in the marked-out areas? Gotta have my cats in the village! I have been organizing my inventory and found more cats and dogs, so more animals and village-bound. Happy building :)

Your winter village looks great! Putting sections on MILS plates would mean you could produce more depth in places. It's a work in progress and I'm sure you'll improve it year on year. Well done ❤😊

I was thinking MILS would help with some depth and texture and making that seal area more impressive. Overall, I feel it's a bit flat this year. Plenty to work on in the future for sure. Thanks for watching and your support!

People take their winter builds down after christmas!?! It would make me so happy to wake up in the heat of the summer just to see my little winter village enjoying the snow

HaHa, yes. I've seen a lot of people take down their villages on Reddit. It makes sense if it's a seasonal display for the holidays, especially if you don't have a dedicated space for it. I'm excited to have mine out all year. I might modify it so it's true winter and not Christmas focused. It's snowing outside so I think my minifigures should get to enjoy some winter sports if they want to :)

That's a very nice Christmas village 🎅. I couldn't spot any minifigs from Lego Series 23. I would recommend getting some as they would look great in the scene. There is at least 6 Christmas minifigs in that series.

Oh I have that complete series - they were just organized in the minifigure section of my room. I should plop them in the village where they belong! Thanks for the reminder. :)
