To kick off this year's winter season, I take a look back at the 2023 Winter Village and discuss my plans for the 2024 layout. I'll be MILS plating the entire village and creating a platform (with a tram tunnel) for Santa and his elves to live and work. Finally, I'll expand the castle lore with a couple of dragons fighting over the icy village land.
After breaking down the 2023 version, I take a look at some parts I have accumulated for the 2024, before starting on laying out the train track.
Finally, I ponder if my track needs ballast or if I can save parts and time by not tacking down the corners.

Hello there, I am impressed and I am also wondering if you have any plans to get the LEGO Winter Village Post Office 10222, the LEGO Winter Village Bakery 10216 and/or the LEGO Winter Village Toy Shop 10249 from either Bricklink or eBay? Best wishes and take care. Kind regards, Peter Skuce. St Albans. Hertfordshire. England.

I hear you! I couldn’t wait any longer to get going this year. Making a LEGO winter wonderland is one of my favourite things to do. Feels great have started an even better (I hope) version!

It hurt my heart seeing it get dismantled 😢 but very exciting to see what you come up with the new layout. Looking forward to it! 😊

HaHa, watching it in reverse is far more satisfying! I hope this one will be more detailed, packed with more stories. If nothing else, at least it will have dragons 🐉😉

For my winter village with train tracks, I used the 15x15 baseplate, it fits the entire curve on one plate. I found it really hard to tack down curves, and used plates underneath so they’d lay flat. Love your videos, inspires me to try making some myself.

Using the bigger baseplate would probably have been the smarter, and easier path! I may live to regret using just what I had on hand. Think I like the idea of placing turntables to tack down the corners. It's a quick and part-saving method to get a little more stability. Start making videos! I find it a challenging, but exciting way to see my LEGO progress!
