Great memories. Thanks for posting. I had landed there and flew off at least 8 times, in AN12 and C109 military planes in 1964 to 1966. Now it has improved a lot.
Once again so charming land. I have spent many years in Laddakh during my three postings. A land which is mystic and has been visited by Emperor Kanishka who got huge rock statue of Maitreya engraved at Mulbek, Herodotus the historian of Alexander too visited this place. It was also visited by William Moorcroft who wrote glowingly about Laddakh. Nobra, Shyok and Kargil adds to charm..I could not go to Zanskar despite desire to go. Here the snow clad mountain peaks of Zanskar and Laddakh ranges are definitely the abode of great spirits and souls giving blessings to people and them selves in bliss. At night the mountain peaks are saying some thing quietly and you may feel the living spirits. Respects and Pranaam to this great land. The place is immortalised by its great warriors of Laddakh Scouts, the most gentle and bravest among soldiers . Among the greatest son of India was Brig Rinchen who had participated a day saved Nobra in 1947 war, followed by his great battle against Pakistan in 1965, 1971 and during Siachen ops in 1984 onwards. The most decorated warrior of Indian Army. Remember the warrior Brighton Rinchen
Spent years and years in Laddakh. I love and loved this place Leh also Nobra and Kargil. Had three postings giving cover to Siachen It was a treat to travel by AN 12 and then by IL 76. Service air crafts were more reassuring . Peacefully good away from repulsive cacophony of loud speakers.. Mountain peaks perfect resting place for angels and spirits. I have chosen Zanskar ranges and Laddakh ranges a perfect abode for the soul after I am gone. Laddakh the land of gentle spirits where the time comes to stand still.
Surender Sharma thanks for your comments. Ladhak and Arunachal r the two places in India where I wish I could settle down, far away from the congestion of our cities
All you funny indians telling this man to remove this video, why?? There's information and pics regarding this region/airport on google already. Anyway a fantastic video. Keep it up 👌
Nicely taken, the air strip for takeoff was amazing to see with those markings, It was like run on the strip and fly. Leah ladakh is nature at its best and top literally.
I believe after take off if you fly straight on you enter Pakistan, so commercial pilot must make a U turn soon after take off. Even with that they could come very close to the border
I know this is showing a military airport, but there's something called Google maps and people can look at that. So even taking this video down won't help. And that buzzing noise happens because the plane is at full power. It is normal to hear that even here in USA.
Sure. The point is IN INDIA photographing a military airbase is illegal, right or wrong, and this guy is stupid to have posted it on youtube and open himself to arrest. It may not happen but it can. Same thing in the US--you CANNOT photograph an active military airport without the risk of your ass being hauled to jail.
@@chilarai1 so why put a civilian airport next to a military airport. US civilian airports are distanced from military airports. But again, I know this is Leh and it's near the border.
Many state air guard units use civilian airports in mid-small cities all over the US. The only time you're allowed photography is during an air show AFAIK. Leh is not just a border, there's a hot war going on in nearby Siachen glacier and Kashmir on the "line of control" (the other side being Indian territory illegally occupied by Pakistan and China). Google Earth is not real time imaging whereas photography on the ground is. Things get moved around--fighters, artillery, tanks, troops--and no country would want the other side to know where they are on a real time basis.
@@chilarai1 name one US airport that is both civil and military. And I said *"Leh is near the border".* I am also aware about the Kashmir conflict and the LOC.
C'mon man, you were the guy who mentioned google right? Go look for yourself. There are many so do your homework. With the US having fought all its wars thousands of miles away from its own borders, its natural for you guys to not know what a hot border is or how sensitive an airport in Leh is compared to one near the Mexican border.
Please take this video off the internet before some agency takes cognisance to this and charges you for photographing/vidoegraphing in a militarized zone, which is a criminal offence.
Video and photo graph are not allowed at defence Airport leh and instruction are given to people again and again. So cheap to leak the phootage of leh defence airport for a you tube post. 👎
This airport is sensitive on security point and it's offence to take photo and video, but being Indian mentality it's always doing such stupid video..... Gadar
For those people who are applauding this man for shooting and uploading this video- A BIG SHAME ON ALL U GUYS...There are so many requests in the comments' section for removing it but still this man is not acting accordingly..Do u hv any idea how dangerous it could be for the defence and for citizens as well..There's a reasons y such things r prohibited. A big shame on ur sensibility
What on earth is 'sensitive' about this video to earn the demands for its removal. It shows a long concrete strip in a somewhat desolate landscape with at worst a few blister hangars. Does anyone sincerely believe the possible beligerent parties don't know all about Leh already? One thing for sure they won't learn much from this otherwise excellent but of video. It is possible to see much more than shown here from the surrounding locality. Having said that it has to be said that filming any 'strategic' installation is illegal.
Filming from any strategic location where as a rule photography is prohibited is illegal. The authorities “should” take this down as a part of enforcement and proceed against the person who tool the video and put it on utube.
Islam is now fastest growing religion in the world even in India Muslim population is growing rapidly,57 Muslim counties are surviving why not Pakistan, so true religion will definitely prevail, i invite you please accept Islam if you are non Muslim.

This airport is in sansativ zone and photography or videography is prohibited, one should respect that and should not have shot this video, and posting on you tube is silly
