Miz is Useless The best team in cricket is ranked no.3 in Test cricket and no.5 in One Day cricket. Jog on mate, Australia's dominance as a cricketing nation is long over.
He needed to go. Whether or not he was part of the ball tampering plan, he was definitely one of the main reasons for the Australian teams recent arrogance and poor culture.
Absolutely spot on Taimoor. This guy has a lot to answer for; he’s allowed his and his players’ arrogance to fester. The Australians have got in their heads ‘they can draw the line on sledging’ when and where they like; It’s laughable . Lehman and Warner are unrefined oiks. The world is relishing in their humbling, because they had it coming. For so long. Cricket Australia is also culpable because they let this disgraceful team culture pervade the team. Their inaction has led to these fools believing they are above the law. How low of Lehman to use Phil Hughes’ death as a smokescreen at this time. He is a disgraceful excuse of a bloke.
Hey Taimoor, open your ears, brain and heart. He was not involved. Lipreaders have cleared him. He did the honourable thing by resigning even tho he knew nothing. Get some Dynamic Lifter and grow a brain!
It is sad that a nice guy like Smith allowed a villain like Warner to ruin his career. Warner is a product of Lehman's aggressive tactics. As a South African I feel deeply for Smith.
Shut up dude! No one needs your banter right now! You feel you're better than them and yet you're kicking them when they're down! This is just shameful
so people with brain will clearly understand now that mr Sutherland just want to save abuses for lehman thats why he didnt include him on that list of ban.. while all world were shocked that how coach can get away with this.. now here comes coach resignation. so that coach can step down with dignity not like smith or warner... great planning with great execution mr Sutherland. hats off to you...
Amour et paix sorry my english is not good. my point is just want to save lehmam from the abuses that he may get from the cricketing world if mr sutherland included him in the list of ban... so that lehman can leave his position with dignity like he is doing now...
shubham Gupta.....oh got ya mate....its such a sad day for cricket lovaz, but i also felt that the aussies docility was on high for a long time...something like this needed to be done to remind them that cricket is not all about what they were upto for the last couple of years.
Amour et paix its all started from brainfade moment that happened in India which was clearly comes under cheating. Smith is a good guy but he is ruined by other senior members like warner & all who created a enviornmemt in the dressing room like these are normal things to do and we can get away with these things. i hope Bailey can get the captaincy he is also a good guy. and i think Gillespie will take over the coaching role though i think aussies need clarke or pointing as a coach now who can bring a good culture inside the dressing room.
sathya Vicky mark my words mate in future pointing would become great coach... he has the required qualities to become a great coach... but i think Gillespie will be the one who wil get the chance for the coach position according to aus media rumours
All the best Lehmann, you won a couple Ashes and the world cup, be proud of that. It's a damn shame that it ends this way but thank you for the contribution to the Australian Cricket team.
Smith takes fall for not pulling Warner into line, can see Smith is genuinely remorseful, not sure about Bancroft or Lehman. Definitely can't say Warner is remorseful. Warner the instigator should stop being a coward & properly front up to media too
minibeast21 do you honestly think that Bancroft, a new batsmen that was not even properly established in Aus team can think of doing this. He was definitely pressurised by Either Smith, Warner or Lehman. Im sad that they destroyed his career. At least Smith and Warner are established in the Team but what about him.
A young adult trying to pursue a career as a long term Australian test player.. If you've ever held a job at a major organisation, you know you dont fight leadership, especially when your a young employee
minibeast21 I agree that warner has played his last test- but I would like to see smith get a chance at redemption! He is an icon and borderline legend of the sport! The others can be replaced but Smith is certainly one of a kind 🏏
No doubt he is involved. Otherwise theres no reason to resign. He wouldve been told to resign to save whats left of australias dignity. More truth will come out as time passes :)
I'm South African. I feel for you boys. Good on ya. I wish you all the best moving forward. Love the SA vs Aus competition. Let's look forward to the next game.
We make mistakes everyday yet everyone is being so critical and non forgiving writing non sense in comments about all of them as if they themselves are idols of truth and honesty.
What a time?? Everybody knows that Darren deserves a grand farewell.. But he quit emotionally.. Bad time for Australia cricket.. Time will heal everything.. Love and respect for Darren..
Given how incompetently it was carried out with bright yellow sandpaper and thumb handed clumsiness from the perpetrator for all to see, I would say the answer to that is a very big YES.
You'd probably very surprised at the many items that an international cricketer might have in their kit. Particularly items for maintenance purposes (scissors, masking tape, sand paper etc).
Vijay Nirmal you are an extremely considerat person. I appreciate you saying that. It show that many many Indians understand what went on. It was Warner's lust for revenge that caused this.
Hey now I feel more respect on Aus than the mistake had been passed through as a human being since they all accept their mistakes prominently honestly and promise that this will never repeated 👍👍this is suffice... big love and support from India! We are all not statue not to do any mistakes!!! All mistakes are bonded with some emotions.
I wish if PCB learn from Australia how you can deal with this kind of stuff, Australian people showing how they are honest with country, I salute them the way there reactions are about this ball tampering,
You should not be resigning! You have done a great job.. Media made it worse.. thy should stop pointing fingers at these people.. they are your own people who have brought dignity and pride Australia, so show them some respect..
We all feel for Lehmann but he just did what a true Aussie should and would do. He was the coach and the head of the Aussie cricket team. For all the haters out there , Aussies make mistakes but they owned them n no FAAACKING excuses or whingging .
All teams doing this. Wake up people, England n.z Pakistan, south Africa, india.... all of them. Australia are just unlucky or stupid enough to be caught.
As a cricket fan what ever happened this week pains me...the cheating...the over reacted punishment.....senseless media blowing it out of proprotion...everything just sad...maybe this is for the better...may this be a warning for everyone thinking of cheating in the future
alpha beta Only people with brain can understand the fact that the fast bowling department and the coach also know that. They were all batsman and they were tampering the bowl not for there benefit but for bowlers only. What an irony that Coach is not involved in The Leadership Group.... Smith and Cricket Australia are trying to hide the blemishes because Smith can't save himself and Bancroft because they were caught red-handed. But Smith as a leader is trying to save other teammates.
I feel for these guys. So sad to see top class players in this circumstance. Everyone can make mistakes and now they learned lessons from the mistake they made.
Karthikeyan D don’t be so naive. This is pure theatre on part of the culprits; they got caught and there’s no amount of bullying, denial, hypocrisy, misdirection that can get them out of this. The team culture is poisoned by these uneducated, gutter trash and Lehman and Australia’s top brass are entirely culpable. These crocodile tears are in direct response to the media furore and the potential financial loss that these greedy, loathsome bullies will now forfeit. Couldn’t have happened to nicer blokes.
Lot's of respect for doing the honourable thing. Even though your country men have cheated us, speak ill of us and divide us. It's nice to know that not every Australian is like Dutton.
What remains odd is that our press has asked no questions. Ever since the tears, there's been no effort to define the 'leadership group' that Smithy refers to in his initial interview. There's also been no link to the warnings that Smithy and Warner received a year back regarding the umps suspecting them of ball tampering, and also, no reference to the footage of Bancroft stuffing his pockets with sugar during the ashes (caught on cam). As a cricketer, it makes sense that sweat 'n sugar could 'glaze' one side of the ball very nicely. So why has our press gone silent on us? Who is in the leadership group? And how is it possible that no bowlers knew something was up? Feel for these guys, but it's so obvious that there's more to it...
We as South Africans should maybe stop casting stones from a glass house. It was all fun and games giving stick to the aussies as we felt they sure could dish it out, but MAN, this has gone further than I think we thought possible. Just last year we laughed off allegations that our captain willfully tampered with the ball (#mintgate). From this day on I feel we should vilify any attempt by one of our own should any similar occurrence come to light again. The handling of Smith at our Airport was simply atrocious. I feel for the guys and hope they come back stronger. This sport needs a good Aussie test side, as it (and always has been) a fantastic contest for us.
I'm an American who loves baseball. I know nothing of cricket. Cheating is cheating, though and shame on those who willfully did it. I hope Aussies do not feel ashamed because of what their team did.
Not the finest hour in Australian cricket, but there's a serious problem in this world, that God, forgives all transgressions, but the ever judgemental public can't!!!! Thank you, Darren, for your service and commitment to the game of cricket. I for one, sincerely apologise to you and your family, for the abuse you've all been subjected to. Stay strong, mate!!!
I think a 1-year ban for Smith and Warner is little too harsh. I think a 10 match ban or something like that would have been more than sufficient. Plus they could have said that in addition to a certain number of match bans, they will never ever qualify to be in for leadership role in the team. One year ban for these two superstar batsmen is a loss for cricket and fans alike. No one is perfect in this world. I am an Indian and lived in Australia for almost 10 years and I can totally understand how it will affect the cricket loving community in Australia. But the truth is no one in this world is perfect. Everyone makes mistake. Unfortunately, Smith and co got caught but ball tempering has been happening in the cricketing world for ages. It is just unfortunate and sad. I hope Australians and all other cricket fans would forgive Smith and co and celebrate how brilliant they are not just as cricketers but also as human beings. Make no mistake, even great human beings make mistakes. Lehmann was a decent coach, won Australia a world cup and they continue to have success at home.
I wish this had not happened. We cannot see these brilliant players go away for a thing that's been there on the field always. Poor guy i feel for all of them. Good luck guys for the rest of ur life.
What a shame to see someone like Darren go this way, I would like to believe he is telling the truth and hope he is able to rebound from this in his own way.
As a kiwi, it's my god given right to stove the boot into ozzies any chance i get....but this is a tough watch from a decent bloke and the whole thing is really sad. He's done a fine job as coach.
Jared Russell as a south african, this is bs and went way to far. Lots of players were caught with ball tampering in the past. I believe these guys learned a lesson and why ruining their lives now. Come on lets leave it there and move on. A one year ban is to harsh.
Historically there haven't been many things for me as an Indian which satisfy more than watching an Australian cricket team getting crushed (which I'm sure more than enough Aussies replicate) but this saga has even made me sad. Hopefully they show some grit in the final test and come out on top.
LamboWalker I feel bad to..... but I just want RSA to win, if not because I have more respect for that team after this incident, then just for morné who we will never see playing for them again
No the game is dead in Australia now it will take many years to come back sponsors gone so test match tours might be abandoned crowds will not come to test they will only go to big bash .
Love you Boof, all countries have ball tampered,we just owned up to it,not your fault, all the best to your future, the mighty Aussies will be back and be the envy of the World once again!!
aarifboy problem with that is when the Australian summer starts, they can't afford to be booed everywhere and the public showing support to the opposition is the worst thing they would ever see. So the board is trying to win back the support of the public at the same time protecting these 3 players from widespread abuse every single day of the game. It might be a good thing for the players to stay away from the attention for a while and come back fresh.
In fairness this statement has all the sincerity and honesty that was missing in yesterday's one. The right decision made. Still don't crack that he had no idea what was happening though.
Australia really has done everything to brake the spirit of cricket. The list is long and will only get longer in the coming years. They act like warrior saints and had they not have been caught would have continued to act that charade out. No dignity no credibility. Lots of soul searching and tears..... LOL.
A win in last test will boost their moral up to some extent... India is coming to Australia next year and we expect a good series for the game of cricket.
So sad to see all of them go thru ths!!!! I believe Mr. Sutherland overreacted n agitated the Aussie public unnecessarily, but to be honest it was quite a dumb confession by smith in that Conference at South Africa in the last match!!! Hope BCCI reconsider allowing Warner n Smith to play IPL !!! They deserve supports from the fans all over the cricketing world!! As an Indian cricket fan I'm with Smith ,Warner n rest of them, they deserve another chance, Com'on guys!!!!
Sad that ppl have to use this situation to question players and countries of the past. Cricket is only played in a handful of countries and in every code some people do the wrong thing. Sledging has gone too far and with that respect. If cricket is to survive and world cups meaningful then the best teams, players and countries have to be in it. This was so amateurish with cameras everywhere and bright yellow tape that it clearly wasnt rehearsed. I believe it was a first and failed attempt and should be left at that. If you follow cricket and want to use this to question a countries integrity then you dont live in Australia. We are proud of our achievements and accept our punishment in this instance. We respect other nations and the quality of cricketers they produce. These guys will learn from this and may even be forgiven but they know it will never be forgotten. I hope they channel that back into the game and use their bats to make a mends. I also hope that sledging gets pulled into check and we have gentleman like Adam Gilly in the future.
Emoh Ruo Would be better if USA was an addition. They have plenty of their own sports and they havent shown much interest to date. I guess they have enough migrants to get it started, but will be 2nd tier..
"I just hope the Australian public give it to him right from the word go for the whole summer and I hope he cries and he goes home. I just hope everyone gets stuck into him" Darren Lehmann.
