The answer when it comes to leica is always that it isn't worth it. Outside their rangefinder line they reach into territory which feels more like a gag than an actual product.

I've tossed a grip on all of my cameras.. Once I got used to the extra weight. I love taking portrait images out and about with all the buttons available either way I hold it. So worth it.

Y'all know that it's made for Fulltime Photographers, so they can cut it off their tax, right.

I find it very confortable in hands for both landscape and vertical shooting. It balances well my heavy SL lenses. You don’t need to shut down the camera to replace the additional battery in the grip (useful for long time-lapse or recordings).

I use Leica microscopes for work all the time. Love their products.

I found the battery life good for stills. All day not a problem plus they have higher capacity batteries now 🤷‍♂️

The only reasonably priced thing that Leica offers is the UV filter. Well, reasonable for Leica at least. The fact they don't dare to go over the price of premium >85mm sized filters shows what a ripoff those things really are.

Not worth it, IMO. But man, it looks so good with the battery grip.

Price performance wise this sucks just as much as most luxury brands but there lies Leicas strength… in the luxury - it’s a brand that can charge for tradition, craftsmanship and especially prestige. If you buy a Rolex (#wait), Breitling, IWC you don’t decide to stay close to Materials & labor cost… you ask for the ultimate, the extravagant, the myth & legend. An item that may not make sense looking at the pure specs but will emotionally empower you to create, will chase you & keep you awake to fulfill its promise. And comparing Leica to watches, yeah a camera obviously has way more potential than a device that just outputs time & date 😂 In conclusion I’d say the average Leica customer just throws in the grip for the purchase because they’ve researched the camera they want for months and just accept that the only way this thing will work is if you spend a further k on it. Is this good company behavior towards the market / customer? No, but compared to other luxury brands this arrogance is just the tip of the iceberg.

To me, a Leica deserves to be on a shelf for display due to it being such a work of art of camera. And yes, it takes gorgeous photos but that is beside my point. They are hand crafted beauty, just like real photography. As for is it worth it?.... How much does one pay for a work of art? It just is what it is. I am hoping one day I can afford a Leica. Lol
