Just a shout out from another M6 user. I have the classic and same color too. Glad to see another film RU-vidr. You might need a Leica trained technician to root cause the light leak. There appears to be a known issue with the shutter curtain over time. Mine has a horizontal stripes of leak on a couple of consecutive frames. This is kinda random. After searching the Internet, I found two ways to mitigate this. One, don't change lenses under the sun. Always go to a shaded area to do it. Second, don't set the aperture of your fast prime wide open while walking around. Hope this helps and🤞
Yeah, that’s where I am sending it to… so I hope it will be solved next month. I have only one lens that I use and I always set it to F16 when walking around. That doesn’t do the trick so I’m using a lens cap at the moment lol. But thanks for the response! Really appreciate it a lot 🙏🏼
M2 user here for over the past two years absolutely no thoughts of purchasing another camera. I am happy with what I have now. This I am grateful for because I have used A LOT..... of camera's too. Hahaha.
Oh also, great video btw. Respect the honesty. I've honestly had not one issue with my m2 yet, knock on wood. Hahah. It was cla'd in 2019 though so maybe that's why I got lucky? Unsure. My m2 is a 1958 btw, it handles and operates like an absolute dream.
Oh yeah that m2 is a beautiful camera too. I think I’m just a bit unlucky with this camera because I don’t hear a lot of other people who had issues with it. But hopefully in September all will be good again!
Thanks for sharing your long-term Leica M6 review. I found it very interesting and very similar to mine. I took my first photograph at age five with my father's medium format camera. I shot medium format for about 15 years before I purchased a small format camera. My first Leica was an M1 that I used on a microscope while I was in college. While in college and after I graduated, I shot photojournalism, documentary, portraits, medical/scientific, landscapes, street, weddings, and other social events. Before my M6, I shot Argus C3, Minolta, Canon, and Contax 35mm rangefinder cameras. Today, I shoot 21/35/90mm lenses on my Leica M6 and M10 rangefinders.
@@TIPSinc01 Here are my final go to cameras: Large Format Film Calumet CC-402 wide field/short monorail 4x5 inch view camera with 4 lenses Medium Format Film Fuji GW670 III rangefinder with fixed 90mm f/3.5 normal lens Fuji GSW690 III rangefinder with fixed 65mm f/5.6 wide-angle lens Mamiya RB67 Pro S SLR with 7 lenses Small Format Film Nikon F2 SLR with 24 lenses Leica M6 classic titanium with 3 lenses Small Format Digital (APS-C) Fuji S5 Pro digital SLR Fuji X-Pro2 graphite mirrorless Note: I had planned on replacing the APS-C digital cameras with full-frame digital cameras. The M10 was my first replacement attempt.
@@Narsuitus damn that’s what I call a big setup! I bet you really enjoy that collection! But 24 lenses on the F2? I couldn’t even guess so many focal lengths haha.
@@TIPSinc01 I used my 24 lenses on Nikon F, F2, F3, F4, N70, N2000, and EM bodies. The F2 was my personal favorite Nikon body. The focal lengths of my lenses ranged from 14mm to 1000mm. Most of them were prime lenses. Most of my prime lenses were manual focus. Some lenses were upgrades from manual focus to auto focus. Some were upgrades from f/2 maximum aperture to f/1.4 maximum aperture. Some Series E lenses were backups for more expensive Nikkor lenses. Some were special purpose lenses such as fisheye, perspective control, and macro.
another great video! could I ask where you got your strap for m6? I'm looking for short neck strap for mine but it's really hard to find one haha thanks in advance and let's keep shooting!
i bought mine back in 2017 around 950 usd, a silver chrome leica m6 TTL without box and strap. not been using it for almost 3 years. i'm planning to sell it now
Awesome video, love the M6. I just bought a Canon QL17 from Japan on eBay. Almost finished my first roll through it, I'm looking forward to seeing if this Canon works properly. Looking forward to more videos from you :)
Video @ 8:47 "is it the camera's fault?" - As a camera technician who specializes in Leica repairs - - - NO ! it's poor technician servicing. Trust me, there's NO EXCUSE for 2 or 3 ReDo's !
I do agree. It’s going back for the last time now and if it’s not fixed after that I’ll want my money back and send it to another technician. The thing is, the tech who done the CLA and repairs is doing this for over 25 years and a lot, and I mean a lot of people have only good experiences. They also specialize on only Leica cameras.
@@TIPSinc01 - "the tech who done the CLA and repairs is doing this for over 25 years" - Well, when I had three repair shops/locations, I trained many prospective technicians. If one of them had a unit come back 4 times, he'd be a former technician. - Again, theirs no excuse for the shop to not extensively test a repair that has become a ReDo. The owner should personally test the work of the tech in question; plus, I'd never send it back in TWO days. It needs to be remedied then TIME tested/seasoned; so, keep it for at least a week testing it EVERYDAY ! - Satisfaction of the customer AND the reputation of the shop should be top priorities for the owner...
@@y2ktube I wish that was the case for me. And I also expected everything you’re saying from them. So I totally agree with you, sad to say it’s not what’s happening right now and let’s hope they get it this time. I appreciate the way you would handle situations like these 🙏🏼
I agree with Isher13! Making a video with you explaining about your photo editing process would be great! @@TIPSinc01 you did a good job explaining why the M6 works great for you.
I’m saving up! I think I’ll go for a summicron 35mm. But no hurry because I’m really loving the results the ultron has. Once I buy the summicron that will be a lens for a lifetime!
The CLA was carried out by a store that only works on Leica cameras. Recommended by a lot of people. The whole CLA + viewfinder upgrade cost about €650,-. But I also had a total new leather skin.
Thank you. Since a few days there's a big spec of dust in my rangefinder patch. Gently knocking on the camera did move it a bit but it's still visible and it bothers me. I think I will have the viewfinder upgraded when sending it for cleaning.
