I really appreciate a few things about your video-1. Use of mic. Easy to hear. And 2. Comparing straight out of camera photos instead of post edits. Great video!
I was recently 80 and have been a keen photographer since I was about 16, my two most sold photographs are not what you might expect, the film one is of an old lady in the rain with an umbrella taken at night in the rain she is blured and the scanned negative was in a bad state and could not be cleaned up completly, it sells, the other is with my M9 a couple dancing in a dark hall, they are blured, the place I took it bought a 20x16 print, the hall calls it the The Ectoplasm Dancers.
Will Leica still replace the CCD sensor even if your a 2nd or 3rd time owner in 2017. Ive been having a real hard time deciding between the m9 or m240. Someone said that leica won't fix their m8 since its too old which if true in my opinion isn't right. I could understand maybe charging the customer but to not do it at all and leave the customer up shits creek per say just has me worried that if I sell some ( is not all ) of my current gear that i use for my work and day to day and go with the m9, in a year, two years from now will they discontinue their CCD replacement program and leave me to up shits creek? the m240 for the relaibitly alone is enough for me to choose between the two but the only way Id be able to afford the m240 would be if I sold all current gear and totally make the switch to leica and even if I did go that route Id only be able to afford a color skopar lens. The m9 seems to be the better choice as I can get a good camera and a half way decent lens, but as I stated my concerns have me undecided. Leicas website didn't say anything regarding my concern I probably will call leica tomorrow, I guess I was just looking for some reassurance, If anyone has any first hand exoeriamce regarding being a 2nd hand leica owner no matter that make or model and have had to send in their camera Id love to know how you were treated, cost, etc. Thanks, great video btw both files do really look great!
If in good light, the M9 is legendary get it!! I still have my Leica M-E, the M 240 is of course a higher price, but do you really 'NEED" it? I just got an email from Leica sent to its members let me paste it here: "Latest information concerning the CCD sensors of the Leica M9 / M9-P / M Monochrom and M-E camera models Following the successfully begun and largely completed replacement programme for corroded sensors that affected M9, M9-P, M Monochrom and M-E camera models, we would now like to inform you about how this programme will be handled in the future. Until 15 August 2017, we will continue to offer free replacement of sensors for these camera models if they are affected by the corrosion problem. This will also apply after 16 August 2017 for the models listed above, but only in cases where the cameras have been purchased as new products within the last five years. You can get an M9 now, doesn't matter if your the 2nd or 3rd owner, they will replace it for free, before August 2017, I had the M-E's sensor replaced earlier this year February, at Leica Ginza, Tokyo. As always James, great video content, background music and models who talk camera as well, funny...have to get to Guam, just to do a photo shoot, am considering between the MP 240 or the M10, what do I think James? I already have the Vario-x ( love the attached zoom) and Q...always have this Leica fever...
Sorry for the late reply!! When you come to Guam email me! I always have this Leica Fever to! lol, I would say if you have the funds $$$ the M10, you can get a used Leica M10 right now for around $4,000 if you look carefully. M10 because its such a thinner body, different sensor in the M10 compared to the M 240 as well as colors, some say the M10 colors are closer to the M9 colors.
I wanted to see how the colors came out of each camera, I did try to set the white balance to both images in post, I can still see that the M9 greens and blues seem slightly different, but slightly.
NO sorry I dont have it anymore :( sold it for a very good price. I had the sensor replaced on the Leica M-E in Ginza, Tokyo, Japan, it was a free replacement, now I believe Leica charges.
From what I know camera sensors themselves collect the light coming in as signals, and there are other things at play such as A/D converts or image pipelines that convert the signals / information into color. Thats why camera manufacturers can put the same sensor into different camera models, but each model seems to have different color signatures or output, sorry should of made it clearer in the video, this video was me just getting off work and rushing to the photoshoot site lol :)
Hi...I am not a professional photographer. I want a good camera under 15000-20000 for video recording as well as still photo shoot. It will be used for occasional touring and event like marriage, birthday party etc. Please prefer a suitable for me.
This is a hard question to answer, I don't know which currency you are asking for? maybe rupee, if it is try getting a used Lumix G85 or GX8, it can do 4K video and takes great images!
