I received my "new" used Q 4 days ago, and my x100f has been in the drawer since then. The lens is insanely clean and sharp, it was love at first shot. I'm still adapting to the wider lens, using the 35mm frame lines is nice to have a good idea of the framing I was used to. My main reason to get one of this is because of the autofocus + mecanical manual focus, AF is very snappy and works fairy well in low light. Too bad we're under locked down again, but I've managed to get some street shots when buying groceries.

I just bought the Q2 a couple of weeks ago and it’s remarkable. Stunning lens, sensor and image quality in both RAW and JPEG. I tend to be a camera junkie, flipping my Canons or Sonys whenever they come out with a new camera, but my Q2 is a keeper. I seriously doubt that I'll ever sell it.

The glass is incredible isn't it. Josh raved about this lens but i didn't believe him until I used it myself for a while. It's not only the sharpness, but wide open, the out of focus areas look so smooth and there's very little distortion or vignetting considering it's a full frame 28mm.

I would keep the Leica Q over the Fuji. I've had the X100F and while it's great it just doesn't compare to the Leica Q. Honestly the only thing I would consider upgrading to would be the Leica Q2 for the higher resolution. Aside from that the weather sealing of the X100V sounds nice but I've never had an issue with the Q in rain.

I LOVE love my Q2... BUT there are two things they could change on the Q3 and I will be the first one to buy. The manual focus far focus goes past infinity. Why couldn't they just make it stop at infinity? the focus range lines between 1.5 and 5 meters could be expanded better to estimate more accurately. what do you think?

Lovely work. If only the Q had an OVF! So I'll probably still be forever lusting over the M10 with the 28mm lens separately. For around £2k used though, it looks like it's worth investing in. Looking forward to renting one out in London for a couple of days. I just got the X100V a few weeks ago, and whilst I love it, I completely agree with your reasonings on how it can be better. I just wish Fujifilm would release it with a full frame sensor, even if it's just the X100 range. It's perfect in every other way.

I moved to a Q from a X100F ( which I still own but used by my son ), it is a absolutely different level from the fantastic Fuji in terms of IQ, I am so glad I made the jump. @wearetheunknown8162 3 года назад
@@frame-lines I kept the X100f and I still use it occasionally, but the Q goes everywhere with me, and I also carry a Ricoh GR 2. I think the X100 is great but the Q was my first move to a full frame sensor and I was blown away it. The Q is like a x100 on steroids, so nothing I miss really except the x100 is easier to stick in a pocket. I wish the Q was more weather proof but I can not stretch to a Q2 in price. I bought a D700 Nikon SLR with low shutter count and have that with a 35mm full frame lens for weather, this thing is old but the images are absolutely fantastic. Love it as much as the Q. It’s incredible.

@@wearetheunknown8162 The same 👍🏻 I did a lot of traveling with an X100T for about three years. I got a lot of images I was happy with, but traded it in for a used Q. Years ago I had an M6. The Q image quality is better than the Fuji imo, although the one negative of the Q for me is the 28mm. I would have preferred 35.
@daygon128
@daygon128 2 года назад
People like you are the reason Fujifilm needs to make a full frame camera. I have the GFX 50R and it's not nearly as fast or convenient as the Leica Q or the X100V. The Ricoh GR series is nice but like other crop sensors they don't stack up in low light especially when they cripple it with a 2.8 lens. If Fuji only made the X100 series with a full frame sensor from Sony they wouldn't have to worry about a whole lens lineup, and it would sell really well, especially when the Q2 is going for above $6k right now.

Hi. I just got mine last week used but in mint condition. Very nice images in London under the sun. I'm a bit curious about what settings you prefer for the AF. I really like the point of view videos, hearing more about photography as a lifestyle, how you accomodate it, why, what happens when you don't etc. Gear review are less interesting unless it fits 'Framelines', like Josh's huge pic-o-graph machine, what was that?! haha It would be cool to hear more about printing, i would like to get into this more. how do you make sure the colors are the same in the book vs on the screen? do you have to send the pictures in at the specific size you want. did you get a proof? etc. stay safe!

I got multiple proofs. I’m filming a vid where I talk a bit more about the book, what went into it and I have some early proofs/mock-ups I can show. Back to the POV’s - I really liked doing them because it meant I could actually do street photography and not just sit in my office talking about a camera 😅 I think we’ll knock out a few of those again soon

Thank you for your thoughts on the Q - I wonder if you'll be happy with the fixed lens long term. I have the Q2 and missed the 50mm-look (despite being able to crop in a lot with all those megapixels), so recently I also got the X-Pro3 with the 35F2 and the 23F2 ... and I actually use it more than the Q2 at the moment (maybe because it's still new, but also because at times I think the pictures of the Q2 are "too good", i.e. too clinical, too sharp, lacking "personality"). Time will tell ...

The other thing is you can shoot F1.7 at 1/8 shutter hand held because of OIS which keeps the ISO down. The X100 needs IBIS. I'm sure they'll incorporate into the next gen as Fujifilm continues go make their IBIS smaller.

Enjoyed the book segment as always. Not a fan of naming types of photography as 'street' or 'portrait' or more granular like 'environmental portrait' or anything else that may get thrown into the equation. They are photos, period - they either illicit a connection with the viewer or they don't. I think it has become a youtube thing and maybe a way of youtubers marketing themselves in simple buckets. Can you imagine Robert Capa's work being critiqued because a book or collection mixed 'street' with 'war' photos? Anyway, I especially liked Tom Woods' work. Thanks.

Do you miss the tilting screen on the X100V or is shooting blind from the hip easier with the 28mm on the Q? What do you think about the colors of the Q? @@dmitrybelyakov I was talking to josh about that yesterday and the book videos are some of our favourite ones to put together. So there'll be plenty more of those. Let us know if there's a particular book you'd like to see.

@@frame-lines Good times! Thank you for doing that. I've got no specific titles in mind but I'm always out for something new (or old) and exciting.

Realistically, if all could afford the Leica, most if not all would choose that over the Fuji.

I like your photos and those from the books you highlight, but do you know how many "kind ofs" you use throughout. It's a kind of verbal hiccup.

Cheers bill. That actually wasn’t one I was aware of. I don’t exactly have any training in speaking to a camera unfortunately :) Hoping to get better at it with time though.

in all seriousness, great to see your photos from the Q Shane. Good deep colors, and refreshing to see your vision with a wider lens.

You are partly responsible for me picking one up! Your videos with the QP just made it look too damn good. :)

@@frame-lines Your shooting style with clean framing and low aperture, great colors really suit it. Looking forward to more!!! (And thanks for the shoutout, made my day!)

A $5k bargain. Right. Great camera, but bargain?

They’re £2k used now. Which is a bargain considering how great the camera and lens is. I stand by it :)

The biggest part you are talking about books and not the camera. You should change the title in to Books and a little bit of Leica.

Hi Shane , nice videos . But I can see that you are taking pics on the street rather than doing streetphotography . I hope you get it ! I like one or two images .

@@WhoIsSerafin Please Don't misunderstand me. what I mean to say is sometimes if not many, there can be a process of making an Image by waiting with a good frame and expect things to happen. I know many times we all fail. but slowing down surely improves opportunities. I really appreciate the hard work Shane puts into his videos. best wishes to all of you!
