Yeah I agree. (although I do not use the rear screen that much) This is an awesome camera and a big step up from the Q2. The AF us better, but you can not quite rely on it. For me the only downside is there is no zoomed view when in crop mode. I would prefer that over the crop lines (a choise obviously). I use the crop mode a lot. It would make it far easier to compose. Great video and thoughts. It really is a special package. You've summed up everything I love about the Q2 and why I own the Q2. The Q2 for me though was the gateway into the Leica ecosystem. All of that said I do enjoy the shooting experience of the Leica M and having the compression of longer lenses or the flexibility of a wide that an interchangeable lens system offers. While the cropping on the Q series is great, it doesn't offer the same look. Not sure if I'll get the Q3 just yet but having used it for a short while, I have to say it's an incredible camera.

Good review ,Thank you. I have a CL and SL2s so know first hand that Leica AF leaves a lot to be desired .Thank you for being open about this. So many reviewers are not so candid. You can work around it but Leica are still playing catch up with the big three where AF is concerned .

I am also a portrait photographer, and 50mm is my sweet spot. Have you used the Q3 and cropped it to a similar focal length? I understand the compression won't be the same, what are your thoughts on using the crop focal length feature?

Sold my Sony A7IV 35GM and buy the Q3 next to my Sony A1 . Really love the Q3 its now my daily camera

I love that you put the AF issues down to firmware..... hopefully you are right.... it could just be that the lens (same one used in previous generations) is not optimized for it. I will find out on Wednesday when I finally get mine!

I understand that nothing will ever replace a true optical 50 -- but as a 50mm lover how do you feel the 50 crop does on the Q3? My experience with the Q2 was that it was a bit too low res to really make it worthwhile.

Great review. I just bought the Q2M to concentrate on b&w, but I must say the improvements in the Q3 are enticing. I’m interested in your AF comments, because that is my only concern about the Q2 so far. In fact, I’ve done a couple of tests to check out the focus and I would say that I will rely on spot and eye for AF, and otherwise manual and zone. Multi field is unpredictable, especially, and, not surprisingly, in low contrast, potential overexposure, situations. Did you have this issue with the Q2 and is it better with the Q3? Congratulations on the video and your passion for photography; I am also in love with the Leica Q3. I even tried it for an hour at the Leica store in Florence. Currently, I own a Sony a7III + Sony 24-70 f2.8 GII + Tamron 35-150 f2/2.8...... What do you advise me? Would you change the whole Sony package to switch only to the Leica Q3?

The Q3 is on my wishlist. Very close to pulling the trigger.

I loving mine but find the ergonomics don’t work for one handed shooting. The back dial is difficult to turn and the buttons are hard to reach with your thumb, and the buttons in the wrong place if you then try to use your free hand . I can shoot one handed with the SL2-S a lot more easily but the size of that is a problem of course. That’s a shame as mostly using it for street. So my GRiiiX comes in the bag as well for quick reaction shots. One handed shooting and changing exposure speed and ISO settings quickly with that is a doddle. Shooting in bright light found the screen hard to see compared to the GRiiiX maybe I’m using the wrong brightness, must check that. Do you have to reset the screen brightness for different conditions yourself Alex? Best Ken

I enjoyed the review I do wonder of course the value of reviewing a camera that 99% of people wouldn't have the opportunity of buying for the next year forget about the price 99% of people who CAN afford to buy the Q3 could never find one to purchase which is a bit aggravating and nonsensical as far as I'm concerned always enjoy you and everything you present and appreciate this review

I have been waiting for your review of Q3 since you mention in the last video about your trip to Italy. Nice to hear that you have a good time in Italy. The Q3 is my first Q. I have it almost 3 months now. I like to say ... I try to live it 😂. I am Sony and Leica user like you. I have used Leica M since M9 till M10 mainly with Summilux 35mm f1.4 FLE. Last year I have sold all my M but still keep Leica lenses. The main reason is that I am getting old to use rangefinder manual focus. Before I got Q3, I try Leica SL2-S and I love it very much. The image look of SL2-S is same as M system. My only problem are weight and size. So I sold SL2-S and got Q3. I would say image look from Leica Q3 is not the same as image from M or SL2-S. For me image from Leica Q is some how like image from other Japanese digital cameras but it is much sharper comparing with same focal length at wide open. Again now I try very hard to love Q3. I have a feeling to sell it but I think I should give Q3 more time. What do you think about Leica look from Q3 comparing to M system. I would appreciate for you advice.

$6g's and it froze up. That's not acceptable. You risk "bricking" the camera everytime you do a firmware update. Leica should not be sending out Beta products. I would be embarrassed to say my brand new $6000 camera just froze. I'd feel like an idiot. Leica is supposed to be thee best money can buy,,,period. I don't see it. I would buy an X100V or an X-E4 and save 4g's

So is Leica giving you the camera in exchange for a positive review? You don't disclose yes or no in the beginning of your video so I'm going to assume yes.

Looking at your sample images, I have to admit they are no better than anything I've produced with a Fuji XT3, certainly not worth £6000.
