I had this awesome lens on my M6, decades ago. I bought an other one when I had a M240 ; but I sold this gear for bad raisons. So I bought an other one with my current M262. I only have 2 lenses henceforth : a lux 50 Asph and an Elmarit 28 Asph. Those 2 lenses cover all my needs. And that's keep me happy because they both are light and extremely sharp. Used, they are more often mint and at an acceptable price.
Your articulation of the features of this lens is excellent, perfect - brilliant. I like your competence and style. Thank you. I have this lens using it with a Leica M-10 Monochrom. I like it a lot. Good job. I look forward to more of your videos.
A fantastic review with some really great images which also showed off the characteristics of the lens. I’ve been shooting on an M body with some great Voigtlander lenses (they also make them native for Sony, the 40mm f1.2 is especially interesting, not perfect but very very good). I am working up to getting a 50 Summilux, but it is a lot of money as you say. For your needs as size is less of an issue, you may want to try a Voigtlander 50mm f1.0 which will need to be adapted, it’s new out and costs a more reasonable £1,699 here in England. It’s a bit big for an M body, though at 480g with a 62mm thread it would be fine on an A7… anyway I’d love to see you review one as you definitely have the talent to get the most out of the lens. PS. I hope the haircut was a success!
What an interesting and relaxed review. Your pictures are brilliant and even with the use of the Sony you manage to pull off fantastic rendition. Keep up the good work!
Nice review of a great lens. I wish there was more videos on the adapters themselves to Sony cameras. Maybe you can do one on how to adapt lenses to Sony, what works best etc.? Keep up the good work ! Keep shooting !!
Thank you! I used the K&F Concept Lens Adapter: www.amazon.ca/dp/B06WLR536L/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_DmfM6Dd8gYWO4 (that is to the Canadian Amazon sorry, I’m on my phone)
Thanks shane!got a 50mmf1.4 of ttartisan, ,i think images by these lenses are really nice even when comparing to the native lenses.(biggest reason: price is 10 times less🤣
Adapting an M lens to a Sony doesn‘t result in a loss of quality?! Differences can even be seen in the center of the frame. The edges are a real mess. No one can oversee that. Some people might not care but I think it‘s absolutely crazy to buy a 4000 $/€ lens for a combination that results in a quality even lower than you get from any kit lens.
Though I agree that I'm sure there is a loss in quality, I don't think it is discernible in practice, though that is just my opinion based on using the lens and editing the photos, others may have had different experiences and that fair, I'm just sharing my thoughts. I agree that this lens is crazy expensive, and I talk about that at 12:25
