We take a POV ride on 1x O&K escalator at the M&S store in Leicester City Centre. This one is at one side of the store closest to the centre and food hall (there is another slightly shorter one at the other end - as the upstairs floor is a different height at the front and back). This one, and the other one are the type RTV-GE and made in 1997. These must have been built in early 1997 when the Keighley factory was busy finishing off the escalator order for London Underground’s Jubilee Line extension as these are built in the Hattingen, Germany 🇩🇪 factory (you can tell since the serial number begins with a 5 and they say O&K Rolltreppen GMBH on the plates (rather than ‘O&K Escalators LTD, Keighley Yorkshire’ and the serial number starting with a 1). This was a way of identifying for all o&k escalators built from 1994-2000 until Kone took over and changed the numbering.

** these are lovely escalators. Unfortunately though, there used to be a 3rd escalator here and it has now been covered up and is permanently out of use. It was another like this, but it was tiny! Only going up about 7-8 steps at one entrance. I did however visit here in 2018/19 and I will have a video somewhere. I’ll have to look for it. 😁
