Yes, it's true. He discovered America. With one difference: He let the Indians/ Natives in peace. Opposite to the catholic conquerors of Spain at first and the other "cultivated" European nations.

Read up on the Clovis people. They discovered North America thousands of years before Columbus. He's not even the first European. The Vikings had settlements in eastern Canada four hundred years before Columbus. You can visit these sites today . Look up L'anse Aux Meadows. Columbus is fake news.

The Vikings were the first Europeans. Several others from Asia and Pacific Islands were earlier than that.

He may have discovered America first (?), but that was non important. The Vikings did not bring together both Europe and America.
