Leigh Anne Vs Jade; Who Had A BETTER DEBUT? 

Wasn’t in love with any of their debut songs but the rnb version of dsl was amazing and the slow version of Angel of my dreams was amazing. I think jade made more of a dramatic impact do to her over the top personality and the shade towards Simon , their label and the industry always grab’s peoples attention. I think Leigh Anne’s message was hugely important as well speaking about her experiences with fans not really loving her for real and she called them out. I don’t think either played it safe and Leigh deserves more credit for not being predictable straight away going to the music her ep has more of. I feel like it’s hard to compare them when their music is so different. I prefer Leigh’s song but I think both take the W for their debuts.

Both songs had to grow on me, both songs had clear messages, both songs called out BS, and both are great. Everyone says that Jade's song is a big risk and more creative, but I personally feel that Leigh took a big risk as well. She has said for quite some time that she wanted to do a "proper R and B album" so that's what was expected of her debut and then she delivers a song that is far from it. Plus, her debut has a garage sound, something that I've never even heard of living in the US and I'm sure some of her other American fans are not quite as familiar with that sound/genre either. When you're debuting and trying to reach a new audience, debuting with a foreign sound (foreign for some fans) is a risk. I like both equally, but at the moment Leigh's song is in rotation more while I only listen to Jade's during my workouts.

I agree with you. Leigh anne definitely comes out on top for me too but both have the longevity factor like you said. Also agree Leigh Anne was less predictable because majority thought she would do R&B but she did uk garage. I knew and lots knew jade would take the chaotic route and drag inspirations which is fine. Most will probably say jade has the better debut because of the dramatic factor of her video and how she brought her childhood in it etc which imo was spectacular. The video for me was probably the best debut because of the story of her childhood and the dramatization of it. The song though was not it for me, it was overly processed vocally and kinda gave us wasabi part 2 which is little mix vibes. Not a bad thing but it takes points away from her for me. The sad version was by far better. Leigh doesn’t get enough credit for the meaning behind dsl. It’s about fake love from fans and the way she told her story diving into the ocean and coming out as a rebirth for my love was simply amazing. Both have an artistic vision and writing skills that will take them far. Leigh Anne overall is making the best music and won’t be topped imo because honestly she is doing music genres I love more and her vocals, choreography, artistry, versatility and agility is just everything. So all this to say Leigh Anne has the best debut song.
