Join Leigh as she shares her experience of living with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL). Leigh is looking forward to one day seeing a cure not just for CLL but every type of cancer.
Leigh is a very positive person and is feeling well and enjoying life with her family.
The Leukaemia Foundation is there to support people, like Leigh, with blood cancer and help them navigate that journey.
Remember, discussing treatment options for CLL with your haematologist is important to ensure you are on a treatment plan that works best for you. If you’re starting a new treatment plan it’s important to find a way that works for you to build a habit and stay compliant with treatment protocols - a diary, checklist, time of day - all help to keep you on track.

She is fortunate to have her child. I am undergoing treatment for CLL. My son is 13 now and plan for no more children. I am almost 50 and look forward to feeling better because there are some productive years left. They are apparently having promising results with new treatments that currently being developed. There are several specific causes and thus many treatments for CLL. Depending on which cause is yours, you can live a reasonably normal lifespan. Mine is caused by a specific gene mutation which is one of the common causes.

I am a chronic lymphocytic leukemia blood cancer patient. I was diagnosed with this disease one year ago. After chemo, my physician is giving me tablet ibrutinib. I am doing well but one thing is disturbing me. My health is not improving. My body weight has reduced hugely. Please suggest me what should I do.

I plead with God to cure and defeat all cancer as He is the miracle maker. I am going to remind myself and others that Jesus heals and fight this evil disease. I say God bless, cure and keep you and in the healing name of Jesus I say you are set fee from this horrible and evil disease. Be totally blessed.

I had chemo (FCR) in 2009, Revlimid and Rituximab in 2013, Ibrutinib and Venetoclax in 2017, and Acalabrutinib in 2023. Every case is different, but for me CLL is mostly just an inconvenience. Each of those four year relapses has brought a new and better treatment. If you are newly diagnosed, see a specialist in blood cancers.
