Artisanal diamond miners say they do not get value for money for the rough diamonds they sell and have called on the government to help create the first black auction company. They are the first cohort of a project trying to bring illegal miners into the formal economy in the diamond capital Kimberly. The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy is now championing the Artisanal and small-scale mining policy to enable economic activity primarily for citizens.
