Man, I honestly feel bad for Sonny. I REALLY like his Ability and his character and as much as I enjoy using him, I gotta admit he got done DIRTY with his perk selections and that definitely holds him back a fair bit. He barely has anything to sustain himself. No Extra Drip or No Sell. Best he's got is Safety in Numbers which is completely teammate dependent and can potentially go straight out the window if someone dies early on. I suppose debatably, Bounce Back Better could help him as well but idk how much that would offer him. I suppose his Endurance is alright (he actually has the highest natural Endurance in the game) but since the Choose Flight nerf, he really hasn't had he could do with it. Maybe boost it further with Ran Track but that can only get you so far since it's nothing outside of a raw stat boost. He's got Jump-start too I suppose but thats literally his one and only 'Meta' perk. And he doesn't even have Empowered to compliment his decent Strength. I REALLY wish he had better perks to sustain himself better. Even if they just gave him No Sell to help with his horrendous Toughness, that could do a world of difference for him. Because right now, he's sort of just a weird mixture of Julie and Leland, where he's trying to be both and failing. Lower Toughness and Strength means he can't distract as well as Leland and he needs a very specific Endurance build just to try (and still fail) to keep up with Julie and her Ability. So yeah, that's my Sonny rant, I suppose. Free my man, Gun!
I agree with you! He definitely needs a rework on his skill tree. My theory is the idea the devs had for the gameplay is actually fitting for Sonny and he would be very useful. However the way the game is played now makes him a bit lackluster. Especially the randomness of him having high strength lol which I never understood
He deserves to have slippery, sabouter, grappler and no sell or extra drip. Jump Start and WDKY should be random perks for him. And he deserved to have 5 more points in toughness. Slippery and Jump Start together would make a great build for him since he has a high endurance. Grappler would be great in it in many ways, No Sell and Extra Drip as well. Overlooked and Sabouter would be a super strong perks duo
His stat allocation is weird, but I personally like the set up to where he can identify who is where in his ability radius. Without dedicating perks, he's the only one who can consistently identify where not to go before climbing a ladder or opening a door, because we all know that proximity warning leaves you very little time to react. Genuinely, his perk loadout appears to have him set up as a support; not someone who is the greatest at anything, but a wonderful back-up for any character depending on what's needed save for taking a chainsaw to the back. Then again, it's probably my love of his design speaking. : )
Sadly it's not that good anymore, I don't think. I solo queue only so the best way I can benefit myself and my team is opening areas to widen the patrol area for family. It's why you see me rush a gate/door to open more area for the team and myself. Doing that or protecting someone who is doing that like I did in this Leland match.
Knowing the maps is the main thing. I think learning the maps is easiest when just having fun and not focusing on that. But if you know the maps one of the best things you can do is open up the map quickly by unlocking doors and gates. Which cause the family to have to make longer patrol patterns.
No problem! Even if you don’t use that escape route just getting a door or gate unlocked opens up the map more and they will have to focus on that exit and you can use another escape route while they have to focus more there!
