Lemmy from Motorhead, in bed with Emma Freud, on the late night show "Pillow Talk" which was part of the Night Network. Broadcast September 12th 1987. I used to recorded the full editions of Night Network, then copy the bits I wanted to keep onto other tapes. So this is not amazing quality, but I could not see any other versions on RU-vid, so be thankful that it is now here to watch and enjoy.

This has to be one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time. I always loved Lemmy! Years ago I used to work rock and roll and Motorhead was the first show I ever worked...the whole band was great, but Lemmy was an absolute prince! He made sure to come by each and every one of us local crew to meet us and say a few words. In addition, he used to play with Hawkwind...my all-time favorite band. God bless you, Lemmy. I hope you're rocking wherever you are...

Met Lemmy while trippin' balls before a Motorhead show on August 3, 1983 T Roof Tops in Buffalo, New York. An unknown Metalica opened ( pre Kill "Em All) followed by Raven. My buddy chatted and drank with him for a good 10 minutes or so. Classy, cool and in control. Always was bad ass, original and down right hysterical!!! A Rock Star's Rock Star. Love you, Lemmy!

Back in the 80's, most British interviewers treated Metal in this way, to be sneered at as something unfashionable and not really music, compared to stars of the day like Howard Jones and Wham etc. Lemmy knew how he was going to be treated I think, and was ready for her.

I last saw Lemmy and Motorhead on the Motorboat 2015 cruise in October 2015. Near the end of their set, Phil wished a happy 50th birthday to his guitar tech. Lemmy followed up by saying "don't forget my birthday in December. I'll be 70. 70... I had no plan for 70." Prophetic words. Chokes me up when I think about that. The world is a much less fun place without Lem in it.

Emma Freud kind of slipped into obscurity somewhat, and has followed a more conventional life, with marriage, children and a career. Nothing wrong in that of course, but who had the better life ? I dont like Motorhead’s music. Idk if it’s the production or if it’s just I don’t like metal-type rock (im more into classic punk and experimental rock and the 60s and 70s and all that, and obviously the stuff that’s come out of that. No Blur without The Kinks etc), or if the volume is just so high it loses the dynamics. Ace of Spades is alright. I like a few ive heard. But i love Lemmy. I’m more a fan of Lemmy than almost any other “celebrity”, bc he was a fan before anything else, and he did what he loved and respected people for the sake of it, and had more brains than i think he got credit for. The media idealised him as this hard rock and roller but really he was just an extremely nice guy with a sarcy sense of humour. You can tell he knew what he was and loved to play with the image he was given. I’d rather mirror Lemmy than any politician or pop musician or TV character or olympian or anything else that’s supposed to be what we’re supposed to look up to and feel represented by.

If anything the real appreciation for their music comes with the sheer amount of volume and dynamism that comes from only 3 musicians on stage. Lemmy plays bass but nothing like a normal bass player, he plays it like a rythm guitar but focuses on chords and strum patterns while the drummer holds the beat and the guitarist takes the lead. It's actually a bit more technical than it looks at first glance, even considering that they don't hardly use pedals or effects. Just straight amplification and groove.

I find that woman insulting and annoying. Even back then Lemmy was considered a Rock God. She just insulted him the whole time. He was always brilliant.

Rhetorical question: Why are interviews so often horrible? I think sometimes it's the producers who just want to create some trouble which they fancy makes more excitement and viewership/ratings.
