Nice review! I bought my Lems Chelsea boots to use as more of a work boot since they are waterproof. I have a small farm, so im in the mud and muck daily. I also work with so corrosive liquids at work, and they have been holding up great over the fall and winter in the mud, snow, salt, brine and liquid calcium.

This was a good review of the boots. I like the way they look & the black color. I also like how they are so easily to put on & off really fast. Chris I am surprised that you Thought that they look girlish but i am glad to see you got a pair man. Good video man. Thanks you for sharing this video.

Would love to see a grippier sole version, whether that be Lems outsole or a Vibram collab

The Ahinsa Chitra Trek&Trail xWide and Realfoot Trekker Low, are other shoes I have bought for trail running and walking. Until now all my barefoot shoes were basically the Vibram Fivefinguers, for me the most comfortable shoes for walking, running, martial arts, work, and in general for all kinds of events, like going to mass or to a party or wedding.

I love my Lems Chelseas. I used a creamy protector that the shop where I got them sold me and it turned the boots a gorgeous shade of brown, not even close to black. Maybe you used the wrong product for the task. My only frustration is how poorly they perform on even small patches of ice. I was going into my garage and didn’t notice a bit of ice and smashed my face on something just inside the garage when I slipped quite badly and fell sideways. They’re quite useless under those circumstances. But on dry or wet surfaces they’re great and I love how easy they are to put on. I will say also that they’re not very warm. I received a pair of Lems Boulder Boots Grip last week and they’re much better on ice and they’re incredibly toasty in cold winter weather. They both have their uses.

Yeah I don't know, I just used Otter Wax, it's what Lems suggests on their site. I used it on my Summits and Boulder Boot Grips too, both of them came out darker but have since returned to their normal color, my Chelseas are the only ones that have stayed darker. Sorry to hear about your fall!! Hope you're doing well

Are those ones waterproof?. If they’re not, it would be a hard comparison. We’ll look into it and see if it’s worth the toe to toe

Chelsea boots are boots for urban areas, but be careful, on some wet surfaces due to rain, they are quite slippery. Lems soles in general are quite poor on slippery surfaces. It would be good for them to partner with Vibram and put Megagrip and XS TREK compounds for their different types of boots, they would gain confidence among their customers. Where it's dry there's no problem, but there are many places in the world that are wet and rainy, and then it's a problem. I usually use Belenka boots, although they don't have Vibram soles, but they are much better on slippery ground, at least I've never been afraid of falling like with Lems, or some Xero Shoes. Greetings from Asturies (Spain).

Glad I saw your comment. I have the Xero Ridgeway, and I just use them whenever it rains. If I walk into a store or restaurant while they're wet, they get very slippery. I thought these might be an option, but I guess I'll have to keep looking. It would be nice to have more casual/urban boot options that are waterproof and grippy on smooth surfaces!

I would suggest to use a some kind of suede or leather spray if you want to keep as close to the original brown color because like you said using wax on brown leathers turn them really darker with any types

@sonsofsever
@sonsofsever 2 месяца назад
We haven't, maybe when the weather starts to cool off again though! Just some assumptions from what we've experienced from the two brands and the specs though, the Lems is gonna have a wider toe box, with less ground feel, while the Feelgrounds will have a slightly narrower toe box with more ground feel. The Feelgrounds is also a faux leather and only water repellent, while Lems uses a full grain leather and offers a totally water proof Chelsea.

Chelsea shoes have very little feel under my feet, I barely feel the ground, I bought them just so I could easily get them on and off due to recent inguinal hernia surgery.
@sonsofsever
@sonsofsever 3 месяца назад
They are quite convenient. And ya, that’s Lems in general. More ground feel than traditional shoes but not as much as most people would like

Do yall have any idea how the LEMs Chelsea compares to the Blundstone Active? Thanks
@sonsofsever
@sonsofsever 2 месяца назад
We don't have any experience with Blundstone, but just from looking, the biggest differences are the "barefoot" or minimal footwear qualities that Lems have. The Lems have wider toe boxes, a completely flat footbed from toe to heel, and a less padded and more flexible sole. They're also less expensive.

Which is softer / more comfortable to walk in.. this or the boulder boot grip? & which has the wider toe box? Thanks..
@sonsofsever

The Chelsea has the wider toe box, and I'd say it has a slight edge on comfort over the Boulder Boot Grip too.

@truman3.0 2 месяца назад
@@sonsofsever thanks, & going into warmer weather you think the Chelsea waterproof or boulder boot grip would breath better / have more air flow - not get to hot sweaty etc ?
@sonsofsever
@sonsofsever 2 месяца назад
@@truman3.0 the Grip and the waterproof Chelsea I think will be about the same, both have full grain leather and both have a waterproof lining, there's no way to tighten the Chelsea though so there could be a bit more air flow because of that? They do have a non waterproof Chelsea which without that lining would most likely breath the best, but we haven't tried it

I’m not a huge fan of the chelsea style generally. I think it originated in England though, so maybe it’s just not for me 😂 Jim Green announced yesterday that they’re doing an 8” boot next year! They’re working with Rose Anvil again

Hey, guys. I love your channel, but I wanted to let you know I find your use of the term “formal” confusing. In menswear, formal means a tuxedo and semi formal is usually a suit and tie. I don’t think you mean to say these would go well with a tuxedo. I think you are talking about smart casual or maybe business casual? I realize in America anything above jeans and a T-shirt is considered “formal” these days, but just a thought for future video. Keep up the good work.
@sonsofsever
@sonsofsever 5 месяцев назад
Ya, the most formal events we get involved in are weddings haha and I’d wear these to a wedding, rather dependent 😂 so our most “formal” occasions that we regularly attend is church and these would be fine for that as well. So ya, you’re spot on for the most part 😂

Been wearing these at work for a few weeks. Waterproof - Y Totally flexible with no shank or raised heel - Y Wide toe box -Y Awesome grip on wet tile wet tile and concrete -Y ( actually confused by this result because I was expecting what everyone else said about them being not great on wet surfaces bullocks!) My feet not hurting after standing on concrete for 8 to 10 hours a day - Negative. Switching to a work boot thick insole definitely helps though. Well my ace fire brands do all the above but have three times the foam. However their fault is that after 2 years, the leather cracks away from the glued sole...ruining the waterproof. I mean I definitely guess that standing on concrete for that long 5 days a week and getting them constantly wet from hot water would kill almost any boot in said amount of time, I suppose

Formal ? If you cant or dont polish your shoes then most likely they are not formal
@sonsofsever
@sonsofsever 4 месяца назад
Yeah there's a bit of our culture coming through in our definition there. We can get with them at church and weddings here in Utah, so to us they're formal haha.
@sonsofsever
@sonsofsever 4 месяца назад
You can polish these. I wouldn’t. But your definition of formal is subjective. Even the definitions you’ll get on google are kinda grey. Not a hill to die on 😂 I wear them to church where most people are wearing white shirts, ties and suit jackets and dresses. Formal enough for me.
