My Dad’s tongue would drag on the ground whenever she was singing and my Mom would tease him about it every time but there’s no doubt that this Lady is special and talented beyond measure
There is no voice under the heavens like that of the Black American woman whom GOD has anointed to sing. SMH absolutely beautiful! Its like unbelievable how beautiful her voice is !
The so called 'black american' voice stay trying to sound like pigskins. People born in that part of the world is only great because African DNA. African's started everything, music, writing etc.
This was my great grandmother’s favorite movie and song. I just remember back in the late 80’s she was in her late 80’s, and she would sing this song around the house. Lena Horne really captured the essence of a broken heart. Stormy weather . I really missed you today listening to this song. 30 years since I’ve heard your voice, but I hear it in this song because it was your favorite. RIH grandma Sadie.
This is my favorite version of this song. I wish I could have heard your great grandma sing it. I'll bet it was lovely, thanks for sharing a beautiful memory.
Don't know why There's no sun up in the sky Stormy weather Since my man and I ain't together Keeps raining all the time Life is bare Gloom and misery everywhere Stormy weather Just can't get my poor self together I'm weary all the time The time So weary all the time Since he went away, the blues walked in and met me If he stays away, old rocking chair will get me All I do is pray the Lord above will let me Walk in the sun once more Can't go on Everything I had is gone Stormy weather Since my man and I ain't together Keeps raining all the time Keeps raining all the time I walk around heavy-hearted and sad Night comes around and I'm still feeling bad Rain pouring down blinding every hope I had This pitterin', patterin', beatin' and spatterin' Drives me mad Love, love, love, love This misery is just too much for me Can't go on Everything I had is gone Stormy weather Since my man and I ain't together Keeps raining all the time Keeps raining all the time
Beautiful both Lena & Cab's Orch. I rented & then bought the whole movie on VHS; hard to believe it was over 30 yrs. ago. If you have a chance to see the movie "Stormy Weather", it's a wonderful experience. Plus you'll know why Fred Sanford was crazy about Lena Horne.
One of my favorite voices in all of history. Every note so pure, so strong, so packed with feeling, and so beautiful it sends chills up my spine. You can keep your vocal gymnasts with their pretty but lifeless singing. Give me Lena instead.
Starting at about 3:15 in this clip during her close-up you will see a few tears running down her right cheek. You will never see this performance the same way again.😢😮😊
@@monicabella7894 Sarah Vaughan was a unique talent. The one I think she is most remembered for is Broken Hearted Melody. Just listened to her version and it's certainly different from Broken Hearted Melody. Her voice is captivating.
As I sit here in 2021 listening to the angelic voice of Lena Horne it bothers me that according to my grandmother, this beautiful woman had to suffer horrendous discrimination during the prime of her career. It's really sad when you stop and think about it.
The top is never rosy...FOR ANYONE. Don't succumb to idiocy. Bottom line is, she rose above it and she's here for us to enjoy all those years later...who won ;)
@@anomalyp8584Facts that make you uncomfortable doesn't make them any less valid or relevant. If others went through tribulations imagine what she had to go through as both a woman and a person of color. Pick up a book.
My mother told me she used to sing this song when she was a little girl. I loved seeing the movie Stormy Weather and listening to the beautiful voice of Lena Horne again!
Que , nostalgia, de niña, la escuchaba y me gustaba su Tono musical,Waw!!ahora comprendo su letra...Que bueno, fue encontrar, esa reliquia.Aun me gusta..
(26F) I just heard this on the radio the other day & was blown away. When I looked her up it amazed me her face stays SO composed while singing! It’s like she’s not even trying to hit these marvelous notes. Beautiful lady & voice. Sounds like honey to my ears
That's right. And it's both the mark of a great natural talent, AND of hard work so that the effort for perfection is not noticed. A very great artist, who has left her mark in the memory of people all over the world.Let's just remember that at the time of filming, a strict segregation between whites and blacks (...and mestizos) existed in the United States. White Europeans were suspicious of foreigners, especially if they were of another color... but this segregation never existed in Europe
