I haven't seen this special in years.Brought back memories when I watched it on tv long ago.Great singers,great songs,this is great entertainment.Thanks for posting.

Lena wore this suite she’s wearing in this tv special on an episode of Sanford and Son when Fred met her at the NBC studios in Burbank. The premise was him and Lamont we’re taking a “tour” of NBC. It was a classic S&S episode.

Hell of a duet. You never see duets like this anymore, meaning two people singing different songs at the same time, accentuating the meaning of the lyrics, in the same chords, keys (hell, I don't know music but they have to be in the same key, right musicians?) and then not get distracted by the other singer's lyrics and song.... amazing. We lost that from the '50s, '60s... along with a lot of other things since that time that were good.

This clip is from a television show called Tony and Lena Sing. Sometime in the seventies Lena Horne and Tony Bennett toured the country and played this show on Broadway.

@poetgb I am lucky enough to have an audio tape of most of this special. To this day, I still play it....and love every minute of it! What a great pairing of great voices.

I so clearly remember them doing a really sexy duet that included The Theme From Love Story (Where Do I Begin). It must have been on this special.

Tony is 9 years younger than Lena. Amazingly, Tony is still around (May 2018). Lena left us in 2010, but she lived to be 93.

Okay. This is my last attempt. It was BROADCAST in 1973. It was REBROADCAST in 2003 which is when you saw it. If you can't figure that out, then, I can't explain it any further.

The days when songs and words actually had MEANING!! Today songs are littered with words like Ho and B*tch. I bet any man standing within two feet of Lena had a woody.

Terrific, lovely. But I get the feeling Lena's seated because she's taller than Tony. It seems odd doing a love duet, one standing, one sitting.

Not necessarily. Was Lena's 1970 TV special with Harry Belafonte ever "re-run"? NO. A friend told me he saw a re-run of the special with Tony bennett around 1980. TOO BAD these shows were not on again - or on DVD. Listening Mr. Bennett and Mr. Belafonte? We WANT to see these shows again!

Um, yes. You're misunderstanding my comment. The original broadcast date of this special was 1973...hence, if you saw it in Sept 2003, it had to have been rebroadcast then, or "re-run" then. Either that or Ms. Horne looks amazingly young in this clip at age 86...

This is NOT called TCB. It is an hour long TV special called Tony & Lena, broadcast in Sept 2003. TCB is the name of a TV special that starred the Supremes and the Temptations in 1968. There were dozens upon dozens of TV specials from the 1950 on.

You're just not understanding what I'm saying. You said it was 'broadcast in Sept 2003.' Perhaps it was, perhaps it was SHOWN on tv in 2003, but that was not it's ORIGINAL broadcast date. Hence, the more appropriate word would be 'rebroadcast'. But if you can't understand that, then I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Such a trivial argument in hindsight...
