I always felt Lene Lovich was one of the most UNDER-rated artists of the 80s. She was very distinct, even amongst the all out weirdness that was true New Wave. She still has one of the best covers of all time - her version of "The Night" by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, she has some great singles that actually should have been big hits, like Birdsong and New Toy, and she is the lyricist for a very cultish song whose stock has only gone up in the last 20 years - Cerrone's Supernature. If only some of her songs had reached greater heights in the charts she'd be more fondly remembered; but as this clip demonstrates - Lovich is her own free spirit; she may have not reaped great financial rewards or household name fame - but she certainly knows how to milk the shit out of life!
I was just listening to her yesterday on you tube, one of my favorite's is " Only you", it wasn't a big hit in Australia but they``` added some background music from the classic film "The Good The Bad and The Ugly" which sounds really cool, deserved to be top 10 in Australia, good to see you are enjoying life and go where the wind takes you.
@@marinopascal1970 Yep! she looks great and she nails all those high notes, which a lot of older singers really struggle with. Elton John for instance, retired because he has lost some vocal range. She does not appear to have that problem at all! This is such a kickass tune!
She is awesome. She’s always done it her way. When this came out I was 12yrs old and everyone I new was trying to sing it. That was a time when truly anything goes!
I saw her live a few years ago. She was fantastic and it was the best gig ever! She is so inspiring. She just makes you feel good doesn't she? I am smiling now! ha ha xx
Lene Lovich opened a lot of doors for a lot of female music artists. She made it acceptable to have control over one's public persona on stage, and the courage to do her own songwriting, which most female music artists did not do up to that point in the late-1970s.
Thanks for the upload I happened across Lene Lovich TOTP's performance after all these years and wondered how she had aged. By the looks of her remarkably well all be it she looks like a Christmas tree gone wrong. She is as mad as a hatter, just the sort of person you want as a dinner guest she is brilliant.
@@tinyjennyl2002 I read a good comment somewhere about her it said " Lady Gaga can only dream about being this wacky" its kinda true and the age old adage of they don't make them like they used to springs to mind.
True we age. I was around when this song came out 40 yrs ago and her voice sounds the same, no special mixers, etc. unlike nowadays. A real lady singer here. Respect for Lene
Lene Lovich l have loved since l was 12 l remember saving up to buy her album. I loved lucky number one l knew l would love all her other songs on her album. Thank you for my childhood of great music lene ❤️
I fricken just love this. Wow, she still has it to... What a great talent and song. I heard it in 1978. I only paid attention to the arragements of the music, the bass and drums with the nuance of the guitars and the timing. I heard the words. I just didn't hear or feel her story. Her Lucky number's one. By the end of her song, her lucky numbers' two. She fell in love? 🎸🥁🎶🤠
WIll always have "it" I remember this song from vh1 in the early 90's. To think this song is from the late 70's. I'd say she really influenced a lot without people even knowing fully who she is.
5yrs ago...would have loved to see her live..bought this single at 9yrs old..loved her then..still love her...I always thought she was from Sweden..lol..only found out she American this yr.
I’m going to see here in the electric ladies tour with Toyah and saffron. She had such a distinctive voice I was worried it would be cringeworthy but aye she’s still got it. Unlike Adam Ant. His voice hasn’t worn well … heart breaking when they don’t know when to stop
If you think she is gorgeous now, imagine how stunning she was in the late-1970s and early-1980s. Type in "Lene Lovich music videos" in the "Search" line here at RU-vid, and prepare yourself to be amazed and stunned.
Young child I heard this song.wow wow everything else sound like garbage..still my fave go to #lucky number 1 or perhaps two 1982 when cool was new wave🖤🇨🇦
Lene rocks as always! But sumpins just not right about that song performed in bright sunlight! Maybe I can run it through Final Cut's "dreary street scene," "dingy club," and "creepy subway tunnel" filters....
I love Lena but it is too bad 2 see her now if she got the record sales back in the day she would be ok instead of going on sta sge at 70 plus She have so;ld more records in the USA but she wae ahead od her time
