Anything these girls do seems to always be great! I absolutely love this version of the Charlie Chaplin penned, "This Is My Song". Their harmonies are so angelic and beautiful, it brings tears to my eyes. And they did an excellent take on that Jimmy Webb song, "Up, Up and Away"!
As a teenaged boy watching them on the Welk show each week I loved them particularly Dianne who was my age. Can't find words to express for their angelic harmony and their genuine down to earth connection with those of us who grew up listening to them. Thank you Lennon sisters for your serenades being a part of our lives.
My lord, how listening to the Lennon sisters takes me back to my youth. I remember watching my Mom and Dad dancing together hand in hand in the living room as my brother and I giggled at the two of them. They passed a week apart, mom was not going to be left behind after 66 yrs. of being together. Wonderful times and Golden memories!!!
Beautiful! Gorgeous! Talented! We need lovely entertainment like this NOW! ((All those sickie females shaking 😢 & shoving their icky bottoms in our faces ,,,,, ugh ugh))
This video is sheer joy to me! What a shame that such beauty, class, elegance and talent are all but a thing of the past these days. Thank God for film. It is nice to know that these performances are preserved forever. God bless you Lennon sisters.
So refreshing to hear actual talent these ladies had. I started watching them on LW with my parents when I was about six or seven and have never tired of hearing their angelic voices!
They are simply 'wonderful'! That first song brought tears to my eyes listening to the girls sing that beautiful melody with their beautiful harmonies.
There were moments in our family when the dysfunction settled enough to quietly turn the channel to Lawrence Welk by whom me an my three siblings were introduced to these four beautiful women and their harmonies, along with Tom Netherton whose baritone voice was stellar.
My house was and is the same way very dysfunctional. I am a 57 year old living with my widowed mother and my BiPolar sister and my brother in law and 16 year old nephew. I tune in every Saturday night on PBS to watch The Lawrence Welk Show. I especially love it when The Lovely Lennon Sisters are on. When I was a kid I watched it with my grandparents and as a teenager I watched it. When I was twelve The Semonski Sisters were on. They sang pretty well, with the exception if Michelle. But when they began shiwing the reruns fron the 50s and 60s with Dee Dee, Peggy, Kathy and Janet Lennon, whom I had never heard of I started loving their harmony. I have a book they wrote Same Song, Different Voices. It was both heartwarming and heartbreaking. The parts where their baby sister Mary was killed by a speeding car and their beloved father was viciously murdered made me cry. I lived the way they talked about coming to Lawrence Welk's home to sing He.
I fell in love from their first appearance on Lawrence Welk when Janet was just a little girl. We watched every week and I looked forward to when they would sing. Peggy and I are same age. I loved it when they recorded Tonight You Belong to Me. They'll always have a place in my heart.
Not only were/are they eternally beautiful and timelessly gorgeous in their harmonies and abilities to sound like one person, the choreography, while not perfectly executed, nevertheless shows how incredibly tight they are as both sisters and performers. The Lennon Sisters are one of a precious few artists that I wish I could build a time machine to meet them in in person in their heyday. It’s like falling into a hypnotic spell every time I hear them sing and watch then perform. And one more thing: their smiles and joy when they perform. They are radiantly sweet and happy to be doing this!
Beautiful. I love The Lennon Sisters and I love The Hollywood Palace, I remember watching it in the 1960s on Saturday nights. This Hollywood Palace episode appears to be about 1967?
Theses young ladies are always the best at anything they do. Their voices are so glorious blending the way that they do. I have watched them since I was like 5 ,6 yrs.old. miss them performing. Wonder if they still perform anymore and if they do if they're ever in the area of Akron, OHIO, Cleveland, Ohio?
If I was heading for the gallows, and was told I could watch just ONE last video on RU-vid before I met my maker, this would be it. Thanks, boatracer--and have a Merry Christmas.
@De St Please accept my apologies for that 16-year-old picture; I was a mere lad of fifty then. If you will allow me to wax philosophical, I'd like to say youth and health are inherently beautiful. In said photo I had the last vestiges of both, now I have neither. I wish you well.
Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon? Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon? We could float among the stars together, you and I For we can fly we can fly up, up and away My beautiful, my beautiful balloon The world's a nicer place in my beautiful balloon It wears a nicer face in my beautiful balloon We can sing a song and sail along the silver sky For we can fly we can fly up, up and away My beautiful, my beautiful balloon Suspended under a twilight canopy We'll search the clouds for a star to guide us If by some chance you find yourself loving me We'll find a cloud to hide us, we'll keep the moon beside us Love is waiting there in my beautiful balloon Way up in the air in my beautiful balloon If you'll hold my hand we'll chase your dream across the sky For we can fly we can fly up, up and away My beautiful, my beautiful balloon, balloon Up, up and away

Well, Lennon gals loved to perform. Most likely didn't make millions & millions. DUMBS pay for that in appearances, concerts & record sales. Also commercials. In the good old days there wasn't crude sponsorship like today. Sick sick. I wish people wouldn't fall for it. Egos in Hollyweird are ridic.
This series with Jimmy Durante only lasted one season as the girls were too distraught about their father being murdered just prior. Some deranged man shot him in the parking lot f the golf course where he worked one night. So sad and tragic, they lost their beloved father that way! Apparently the murderer had the idea that he was meant to marry Peggy and so he saw her father as standing in his way of doing that.
