iwas raving ard these times he was on the door at hippodrome aswell all iever heard that lenny was a bully but avery hard geezer I also raved at lazerdrome in Peckham labyrinth in dalston roller express in Edmonton london dungeons lee bridge road ealing boluvard in Ealing Telephanty in marshgate lane bow orange at hollaway road and hippodrome desire at Tasco warehouse plumstead world dance Lynn international aircraft hanger the sanctuary at Milton kenyes astrora and club buzzbies tottenham court road echos in bow
Awesome times in there. That que to get in there was jokes though. Bouncers charging a tenner for 3 of you to jump the que. But once you walked i ln there.. Best times of my life.
Lennys team consisted of John Madden Basil Bell Allan Crossley Henry donnachie and Tony Oliver all serious men and considered a month the best doormen in the country.
89-90 we went Fridays it was only to 2.30am them days. whole roof come off at 10.30 all peaking on E. The thing was if you serving the bouncers get you and extort the E,Acid,Puff off you. But later on i saw other bouncers from there hand people over to plod? . From queue. Saw him on door there a few times. Before i met him in Brixton and Belmarsh later on.
That mob of doorman were there when it was the Music Machine, they were as rough as fuck. Numerous quite tasty crews got done by them - went back - and got done again. Lenny was always fine with me. Basil though, that's a different story...
Remember going Camden palais in 80s, Lenny on the door asking us where were from..Stepney in you go boys. That night Lenny was on the stage knocking out the troublemakers brutal.
Sykes in all fairness was an athletic strong professional boxer, big with it. I don't think you get much more lethal on the street than him, he'd take out hard men no bother
Hippodrome used to have a rock night at the end of the 80s, used to go there every Wednesday. 3000 capacity. All the blokes looking like Motley Crue, long hair, eyeliner all sorts. Girls looked like porn stars. Lenny was always at the door. This was decades before he found main stream infamy. Never saw any trouble there on those Wednesdays. Never even heard of any. Rock venues back then were the least rowdy places you could go.
If you've ever been round rugby lads with a drink on them you'd have no pity for them copping a slap. Drink brings out the wanker in them, they like to think they're the king's where they land team handed
@@kin3249 fair point mate But Yammy said the rugby lad was trying his best to get out the place Lenny was lenny my only problem with him wasn't the violence or anything like that Its him and people like him Another one like him Mr Brian Cockril trying to make out they were some sort of saint in there earlier lives When they were nothing but mindless bully's and they know it!!
Sam, have an ask to Tony, and see if he sees a resemblance to Eamesy. Jon the rot I'd call him Lennie was your classic bulldog. my pal was banged up with LM in wanno, now Len coulda tore my pals lips off but , he tells me that L. was a blinder to him my mate did read n write his letters for him but even so my pal J, said he really never had a Danny bout him bullying. they spent a good few moon chubbed n L give him so wedge on his release and a number. we all have days where we do stuff we might not do the next hour or day .. they call em bad days don't they. idk Sam, no answers from me
I see Craig Charles and he’s pal pestering Maria Whitaker has she pulled up outside the hippodrome Leicester sq with her minder in a merc in 87 which didn’t go down well for Charles as it ended with Lenny do you want to count the digits open palm slap him and spark him cold on the spot he didn’t play.
He was a big unit that could do the dance but he knew who to take libertys with and not take libertys with ......didnt he get shot by mad barry dalton???
Good morning and love yammy like everyone I'm always very happy when your notification comes up ..makes me happy . 😊 lol got stuck ! Haha bad time to need to lose a few pounds .
I saw lenny on there door of the hippodrome a couple of years after this, some bloke outside was threatening him with one of those massive old fashion motorbike padlocks and chain. Lenny didn't look to bothered lol
I was in the queue at Camden palace, just about to go in when a group of northern football hooligans gave Lenny some lip, he tore into them and they scattered, there was about 8/9 of them !!! 😂😂
Doors are a joke now. I was left in the shit my first ever night on the job and that was a sign of things to come. Depending on the night, we had between 3 and 7 guys and i could maybe trust one of them. You can't even commit half the time because you have to watch your own back when it goes off.
Yo yo yammyb I been a follower since the Shaun attwood days your story's were and still are gripping and gritty and best of all you kno these are real fly on the wall story's keep up the good work from messina Sicily

yammy my comments got deleted or disapeared for some reason, basically people said there was no barrier outside the camden Palais, there were barriers metal ones their the type of barriers that help form a quew for people going in the club i tried uploading youtube video to prove this, basically mclean tried to throw me over the barrier, unfortunately some people said there was no barrier, there were small metal barriers, that was used for the quew, so to keep the rest of the pavement free so people could walk past.i uploaded youtube video but now my comments have disapeared.Basically lenny mclean tried to grab me and pull me over the barrier, he hit me so i hit him back, nothing big about it i just defended myself. There were Bigger names in London than Mclean, of course he could have a street fight, but there were bigger names than him. busy clubs had barriers to keep the quew close to the club otherwise the public could not get pass, on the pavement outside, the camden palais and other clubs , camden council made the busy clubs do this to prevent overcrowding the pavement.Mclkean actually picked up one of the barriers and his bouncer mates actually picked them up and threw them at me.I have no reason to lie about this, nothing tough about me yammy, but i don't let people hit me, .he was surprised i hit him back.I am a normal bloke thats friendly , i'm not a hard man,all i will say is this Bullys always get their karma.all the best yammy, and godbless to wayne Hurran a school friend, best wishes my friend if people think im a bullshitter ask them this , what school did wayne go to , he went to sir william collins camden he was from caledonian road.islington, wayne was public enemy no1, watch the tv documentries.I can assure you , Wayne was fearless, but a great bloke and not a bully.
My school to sir William Collins join the year girls joined 👍 on to no Wayne in later years.. like I said different post did have railings outside palace and one thing can’t be denied Lenny was a bully
@@yammybtv what I meant was there is a bloke a doorman called Antony Thomas from Merthyr Tydfil by me he wrote a book about Lenny him and a bloke Lee wortley it's good read
Great story. I wouldn't say it was the roughest door to work in the uk. Places like middlesborugh glasgow belfast nottingham had some major places. Pelican pub is number 1 in my book. Left hand side is the bar where all the younger lot go in. A gangster called donny quinn runs that estate and his family runs the pub. I'm talking major fights on the car park while the police just watch baseball bat attacks machete attacks gangs from Birmingham coming to shoot out and stab out on the car park. Used to be recordings on RU-vid of fighting heads getting stamped on. These are a pack of animals. Raids every week on the pub armed police always around the pub watching. It's literally like the Harry brown movie the way they go on and for some reason all of them are making millions for a certain someone and never get caught or arrested and they also tax all the shops across the road for protection money or the shops get burnt or robbed. Horrible place. The pelican lot are known for going different cities to fight up north. At least 100 of them on the car park blasting bassline sniffing taking pills dancing on cars. I've never seen nothing like it and I've lived in London ( brix) 15 years and Manchester mosside 10 years al Yam listen bro I love your stories but I would love to know more about you and understand more about you. Your a diamond fresh out the dirt my brother. Keep shining
I used to go to peach night at the palace in late 90's don't remember Lenny probably long finished by then but I remember another guy probably in his 50's was head of security, bloke with grey hair & beard. Lovely chap caught me with a few pills once and told me I had 10 seconds to swallow the lot or he will confiscate all 3. I panicked & done all 3 and he laughed & said 'I was only joking'. Credit to him for not chucking me out. Sound guy he was.
