This video shouldn't be necessary in the first place. But I'm glad it exists. My solution so far was to pull the spring a bit longer, but that is quite difficult. A second spring is much easier ^^

@Wing Wai Tai For me the issue only started after about two years of use. I replaced the battery after about 1 year of almost daily use and half a year of rare use.

No way - my Pen was always disconnecting or not writing and i went through 3 years of university and 2 "repairs" from Lenovo for a damn ballpoint pen-spring to fix this extremely annoying problem, thank you so much.

Tip for anyone trying this: don't put the end of the spring that you've cut against the battery. I did that and the battery started heating up and the light went red within seconds of turning it on. Flip it around and use the finished end of the spring against the battery and t works a treat.

Works! If you don't have two springs this small you can also use a single bigger one often found in ballpoint pens. You need some patience to get it squeezed between the two parts of the pen though.

Thank you, this issue was driving me crazy. I didn't have a spare pen to sacrifice so I put a small ball of tinfoil instead between the battery and the spring and it works perfectly.

Worked! Didn't even had to cut my spring from my broken pen, worked just fine :) Endless hours of searching on how to fix this. Tried this one out and right away worked. Thank you to much!!! (PS: Like was given with my now working pen :D )

LOL SAME FOR ME! I was laughing so hard that I had to wiggle it just like a normal ink pen to get it to work but at the same time I was sad cause I spent quite a lot of money on it. :o One issue: my pen explodes unless I put tape around it haha. But hey, I can write with it now! :D

Do you know which battery runs the bluetooth part of this pen -- the watch batteries, or the AAAA battery? (i have a pen that does not seem to be receiving power to the bluetooth. the symptom is the LED on the pen doesn't go one when I hold the top button down for 3+ seconds)

Bluetooth runs off of the one in the back of the pen the tiny one. And that is why I used an extra spring like in the video.

Thank you so so so so much. I'm learning for my first exam and this pen drives me crazy! It's already the second one since I own the lenovo tablet and I was thinking about buying the third pen so I can learn without being interrupted every minute... you saved my life! (and saved me from beeing one or two weeks without a warm meal because the pen is so expensive and I'm a poor student lol). I thought about a loose contact but I thoght it would be in the long part of the pen and not so easy so solve.

No clue. It shuts down due to lack of power. The spring has to be very conductable

Does anyone know why this may have caused my AAAA battery to short-circuit? The pen got HOT and I quickly pulled the battery and springs out... is there certain types of metals it could have reacted poorly to? That's probably ignorant but that's the only thing I can think of; the battery was definitely in the correct direction.

Didn't have wire cutters for cutting a pen spring, so I placed a small piece of foil instead and it seems to have a similar effect. Thank you for this video, I was genuinely looking for a completely different brand to replace my pen since the constant "dying" was absurdly destructive to productivity :)

Unknown. The disconnect happens due to lack of power. The material must be highly conductable

Hello, I got this pencil about 3 years ago and it never worked. I couldn't change it at the time and now I don't have the warranty. The led doesn't work and it won't connect. I tried contacting support but I only talked to a guy for 50 min and he ended up telling me that I need to buy a new one. The buttons work but the one on top doesn't. I tried what you did on the video with different springs but it still doesn't work. What would you say that I should do? Or what new pen should I buy? I have a Yoga 920-13IKB Laptop (ideapad) - Type 80Y7. Thank you!!

I got a warranty replacement which then had the same issue a few months later, at which point I got a refund and bought the Lenovo Precision Pen 2 which has a sealed rechargeable battery and therefore no spring inside. Seems much better built so far.

No wayyy!!! I always thoght it was a malfunction! I also found that it is possible to achieve the same result by simply loosening the screw that closes the batteres of the bluetooth key compartment!

I use the lenovo duet tablet and I bought this pen to use on it, encoutered the same problem and tried this fix with no success. I used all the springs I could get my hands on with no resolve. The pen only stays on a litle longer and then disconnects from my tablet again, am I doing something wrong? And at the price point of the active pen 2 I would not expect it to have a failing point of a litle spring, very disappinted in lenove. Anyway any help or suggestions would be appreciated...

the most ridiculous part is, this issue is happening across all of their pens!! I recieved the digital pen with my lenovo ideaPad Flex and after twomonths it started having this issue, I went and bought the active pen 2 thinking it is both a fix and an upgrade only for it to get the same issues two months later! only to months ffs and I have replaced the tip (it came with extra 3) and battery none of it works this is ridiculous, I`m not buying another Lenovo product again

this is a great tip, but i have the problem that it seems like the battery is activated all the time if you load the spring. after one week i had to change it, does anyone have the same problem? a possibility would be to take the battery out if you use it only once a week but thats not very satisfying, any other ideas?

uhm, I don't remember. I think when bluetooth stops working I guess. But it lasts a LONG time.

@@SanderCokart I have it paired. It works intermittently. I put in another spring. Will the spring not raise the resistance of the circuit thou. I am not sure what else to do. It is out of warranty. I returned the first 1. This is the second 1 that amazon delivered.

The spring has to be conductive enough true. Otherwise return in and try the bamboo ink.
