Hi Andrew, yes that's normally the case for most manufacturers. It can make buying a Chromebook model type a little confusing, but I guess the closest analogy is in buying a car, a set model will come with several engine choices and trim levels. Hi Anna, thanks for posting and checking the videos. I had an update that you'd posted a comment in October, but it was deleted by YT with no way for me to restore, I believe as you'd included a product link. I've seen this myself where it still shows for you but no one else. Regarding your questions - if this is for you to use and spend any time out - rule out the ASUS Flip. See my Community post, but I've received it this morning, typing on it right now - not as nice as the experience on the Acer Spin or Lenovo Flex 3i and it's also not as light as I hoped. I think it's still great value and perhaps perfect for kids as pretty rugged and the stylus is nice to include but maybe more of a novelty to most(?). Get the Acer Spin 311 or Flex 3i (6th Gen) for £199.99. Either are great machines. The Acer's made advantage is it's extra light. The Lenovo 6th gen Flex 3i obviously gives you the even newer processor and 1 extra year of updates. If I personally has to select I think I'd still take the Spin 311 as I really appreciate how light it is to travel with. If you buy the Spin from John Lewis see if you have the rewards programme and can get the free Google Nest Hub, but I think they are out of stock again. BTW - You can't expand a Chromebooks memory with an SD card in the way you would with an Android phone. As long as you're not planning to download a ton of apps and you use your files in cloud storage etc you'll be fine. Glad you liked it. Based on the versions of the devices I show on the channel, if I could only have one it'd be the Acer Spin 311. It has 2 years extra support for updates and is lighter. On the other hand if connectivity for USB and a Micro SD card is more important then the Lenovo has the edge. The Acer has deeper travel keys on the keyboard compared to the shallow ones on the Lenovo, that's personal preference mainly. They're both decent overall and I don't think you'd regret either if looking for a convertible Chromebook in this form factor.

Just browsing, utilizing google apps, media consumption, so nothing crazy. I know the 5 is full HD, but was curious if the processor speed would be noticeable between the two machines.

@@jridge6 The Flex 5 is the more premium machine and the i3 certainly has more grunt, but for general browsing you may not notice a massive difference between the two. Think about your preferences in some key areas: * Extra power, but with fans vs lower power but fanless * Power vs battery life (I generally find I get longer use out of the Flex 3) * Larger FHD screen with much smaller bezels vs smaller screen with bezels, but a slightly lighter Chromebook * Larger better keyboard that's also backlit on the Flex 5i Also keep in mind the Flex 5i will have a longer Google OS update life until June 2028 vs June 2026 on the Flex 3 - so think about the cost per year when you buy a Chromebook. Hi Cherrie, it's an HD rather than FHD screen, for an 11.6 inch device I don't see that as a massive issue. You could consider a 13.3 inch or 14 inch Chromebook with a FHD screen if you need that higher res. It's also an IPS screen (better than TN) and touch enabled. I wouldn't say it's particularly slow with the N4020 either for average use. You might want to check my Chromebook gaming playlist - ru-vid.com/group/PLNSLoCmFMc8pCp1JX8QH02cTi1Vq2hJFY showing games like Roblox and how you can even install Linux games like Minecraft to get the full version on your Chromebook. You might also want to consider if a Chromebook with an ARM (e.g. non-Intel) processor could be better for gaming as more games as designed for them and I'm aware there are some Google Play Store games like Lego Mario that will install on say a MediaTek based Chromebook, but not an Intel one. Yes, very similar screen in my opinion. I'd recommend you check benchmarks of the processors, but I think overall I prefer the Acer Spin for it's lighter weight. If you're not going to travel much with your CB though you may value the extra connectivity the Flex 3 offers. Does this help?

Hi, if you want it without the touchscreen it's not convertible either, it's the non Flex version so just called the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 Chromebook. I believe it will always have a TN screen too instead of an IPS screen. I wouldn't recommend it over the Flex model really and I also really wouldn't worry about the screen getting scratched or cracked, I've never had this on any Chromebook. Likely you also won't use the touchscreen as much on a Chromebook as you do on your phone and main use is with the keyboard. Hope that all helps a bit.

How much is the Flex 3i to compare?

Hi Vincent, I've just had a look - that's actually just the 'regular' Chromebook 3 (not the Flex). It's model type 82BA001FUS / SKU 6500335 I am seeing if that's the same one you mean, at $99 USD. So different to the Flex as it's non convertible and doesn't have a touch screen, also a 32GB storage model. The screen is also TN rather than IPS. It's a cheap price and good for what it is but just want to make sure you know the difference to this one and anyone else who may see this.

@@carlybaxter9065 I think for his age and the travel element I'd recommend the Acer Spin 311 with the MediaTek processor (MT8183), unless you prefer the extra port connectivity and shallower keyboard keys of the Lenovo Flex 3i. I think the Flex 5i might be overkill, it weights a bit more, the fans can be a bit annoying and I feel the battery life isn't as good as either of the 'lower end' devices that can really shine. Are you logged in with your Google Account? The Play Store should show as an app, click in the bottom left for the launcher and type 'Play', see if it shows that way?

@@arjun7011 Thanks. Your $165 (CAD) price is about $120 (USD). On Black Friday you could pick this up in the US for $99 USD which seemed like a steal, so I think your price is good. Keep in mind for your Netflix etc this is an HD, not FHD screen, but at this size I personally wouldn't find that an issue. For your PDF work, is that editing? I think they support SDXC format so in theory up to 2TB but for sharing files I prefer this method - ru-vid.com60Ngcm87ju4 Chromebooks aren't really about onboard storage of course, expecting you to have your files in the cloud and although you'll probably have some apps installed I think most people don't use it quite like their phone (e.g. not as many apps needed).

@@MergeDroid I have a school laptop and that's about the only thing I've ever used. Work will either require the unreal engine or the unity engine and for sure blender. A few others may be needed but I'm not looking to game other than for my build. And I bought a 350 gb hard drive.

Do you know how you can install either of those on Chrome OS? I'm wondering if a Windows laptop is going to be better for you? Maybe with a meatier processor and more RAM for the kind of work you have planned?

Hi - thanks for checking the video. Where are you based? In the UK I've Tweeted deals on grade A refurbs ~£170 mark for the 32GB model, so that's about $233 USD or 200 Euros. Brand new cost is higher. Some regions will see more deals/discounts though, particularly in the US. Others can hopefully comment post with what they paid (and where + when) or current deals in their region.

There are some video editing apps available in the Google Play Store. If you have an Android phone maybe test them out there to see if you think you'd be happy with them and the likely performance. My gut feel is it wouldn't be ideal and if you're used to using a fairly modern Mac may be a step down. It's something I want to try out more myself sometime and likely make a video on... in both senses! 😂

@@MergeDroid Well because I don't drive and have a bad foot, My Father drove down to Jersey and took Me and his Grandchildren and the Lenovo laptop back! I went with the HP brand that Thier school uses and My Son also has the HP that he picked out. So She loves her HP I only had to pay maybe 30 extra dollars and I feel Really Good about My decision. Hi, should be if it's just something you access through Chrome. I'd more consider if the screen size is big enough to look at all day, or will you be connecting to a monitor? Do check out some of the other Chromebooks I've featured on the channel too.

Keep in mind you could use it with an external monitor (and other peripherals like a keyboard and mouse) through a USB hub or dock, might be a solution to give the best of both options.
