I buy broken laptops off ebay and try to fix then flip them. I can't tell you how many lenovo laptops I get that come faulty straight out of the box (according to the previous owner). Most of the time its something like the battery and cmos need to pulled out then put back in for it to start back up. The last one I bought was fairly new, but the owner said the keyboard was dead - I opened it up and I kid you not, the ribbon cable was unevenly clipped in. No idea whats wrong with Lenovo QC, can't believe how bad some of their products are straight out of the box.

Wow. That's repairing on really low level. Great. Many people from service would just replace the whole motherboard and let the consumer pay for it. ;)

I have some issue onmy lenovo E4080 laptop. Suddenly it does not start. I took to the 2,3 repair shop. They said. The mother board is short / burnt. You need to replace it.. bt this motherboard is not available in market. Plzz can someone tell me what to do with itt. ?????????? Help plzzzz ?!!😢😢

Hi , my issue is that the power button when I press it ,but do not have the click sound(I guess the connector broken?) - my laptop(lenovo y520) I try poke into the small hole at the side it on but no bios show up screen is black (but the keys are all light up)

If I would know you will stick those fat probes in my motherboard I would never give it to you. You can short out and burn all kind of things messing around with those probes...

Do you have an experience with the Yoga 900 or 910? It stopped turning on one day. I tried all the tricks online. The battery is charge 7.8V or something similar. Charge light is WHITE. There's a whining noise when I try to turn it on. It's electrical whining noise. None of the fans are moving and no boot of course.

I'm experiencing the same problem with a Lenovo Yoga 14 80JH. No charging, and the power at Vcc & GND on the mobo DCIN connector are stuck at 5.2V. This video is a blessing, I thought I'd have to change the full motherboard, which would be pricier than the laptop at this stage. I might try your solution, thanks for your videos, they are very educational :)

0:30 - could you give us a hint which is ground and which is + in the connector? I cannot find a simple schematic for that anywhere in the web :(

I need help. Have a Lenovo W520 with a dead keyboard. The keyboard ribbon is torn. How do I power it on without a keyboard. ?. Power button is on the keyboard. If it powers up then buying a new keyboard makes sense. If its a mother board problem I would rather bin it. Any help appreciated. When I power it on all I get is the power LED blinks 3 times. I am getting 20 Volts on the mother board. So I know the power supply is ok

Lenovo Vantage popped up on my screen saying I needed to update my BIOS. Everything seemed to go ok when I saw that it needed to restart. While restarting, screen just turned black (no logo) and my hard disk was not spinning. I called Lenovo Support countless times to figure out how to fix no boot after Lenovo recommended BIOS update but they eventually told me I needed to bring Lenovo G310 to service center for replacement of motherboard. I watched your video and went through the steps you took by shorting the CMOS to clear the BIOS. It seemed too simple not to try. Sure enough after building up the courage to open the laptop and pull the battery connector off and removing the CMOS battery to short and clear the BIOS. I was delightfully surprised when I plugged in the power cord and pressed the power button to see the Lenovo logo appear. Maybe tech savvy people would have figured this out on their own but for non-techy guys like me, your video was straight to the point, easy to follow, and effective. Thank you very much!

I think it's a 5 volts voltage regulator for the USB port. The problem happened because of a short caused by the faulty port.

I am using LENOVO G50 if I press power button after charger connect the battery charging indicator is flickering. If I release the power button no indicator nothing.if I remove power code and refix the power light and charging indication light will come and automatically off after a few seconds.

YOU just removed the short chip and just shorted the circuit with jumping wire . does this method works for replacing all MOSFET that is shorted ?

Hi. I think my Lenovo Ideapad 320 is broken. Its not turning on, and when I try to push the novo button it turns on for a second then shuts down again. And the light at the side of my charging panel also blinks with the gap of 8 seconds. It is a built in type battery. So i tried removing the back cover and removed the battery. And tried the "drain the flea power" method, as well as the other methods but nothing is really working. Hoping for your fast response. :(

I have the same laptop. The charging light is always off and it does not charge. I cannot boot the laptop. I measured the right resistance on DC IN and the right voltage output. I believe there is a shortage on the motherboard DC female connector (symptoms Voltage renders 0V)

Hello. I had a problem with an acer e1-572G . it want to starts , but after 1 seconds, is power off. the blue led and the orange led are blinking infinitly, and after 1 power, dont power again... i think it`s a short-circuit on mb, but i dont find it.

Got a similar problem. Plugged in a usb device, and since then both USB 3 ports have died. The laptop wouldn't switch on, until I removed and re-installed the battery. The USB ports are now dead. Any hints on what I should be looking for? The voltage regulator seems to be working in my case - 5V on input while the laptop is off, and 5V on output while the device is on.

My Acer One 14 is shorted as i tested it, it turns off after 12 seconds no display fan spinning power led light on and the processor chip under the heatsink getting really2 hot even if i dont turn the laptop on, i only plugged in the charger and processor chip is getting too hot.. what could be the problem?

A Little bit dodgy way - batter was to leave that circuit open without USB. Now if that pins would touch it would be nice surge

First, Where do get schematics from. Need schematics for this labtop. Second, I have a Asus K501U laptop where after the power connector the two mosfets has issue. The first one D has 19v the second MOSFET S has no 19v. I shorted the S to D and still not coming on. I measure a D to S short on three other MOSFETs on the board. Any suggestions on next step. Should I short the other three MOSFETs to see if labtop will come on. Thanks

never take out CMOS battery without knowing if the bios password is set on lenovos. When you take out the battery and if the bios password is set, the laptop would be compleately locked up for ever.

Im fixing a Lenovo T410 , the problem is it turned on upon pressing the power switch but after a 3-5 sec it turns off.. I've already found the shorted capacitor in the processor supply rail.. removing the cap, the short is gone, but still the problem is the same.. the processor, the 19v line, the 3.3v, and the 5v are all ok.. the 1V and 1.5V drops after few sec of powering on.. any suggestions ?

Its red LED, which indicates that the device is on, lights up, but nothing happened(monitor and fan is off) This problem exists both when the battery is connected and without the battery. How come every laptop this guy works on is almost brand new, they take 20 seconds to take the motherboard out, and all seem to only have a shorted cap or a mosfet. I'm getting nothing but 8 year old Fujitsus that have (not kidding) 36 screws before i can take the motherboard out. I'm seeing MULTIPLE coils for power with either NO visible mosfets or just 1. or the mosfets are really difficult to identify. Takes 15 mins to take the motherboard out, and the same to put it back together lol. Is there no one in the UK with a sh*tty Fujitsu Siemens? I have 2. Also, i have 2 Retina a1502 laptops here to repair, but i can't get half the screws out the back of them because they're basically disintegrating as I'm turning the screwdriver even though it's the right size. Any pressure turns the star shape to a circle... ffs He gets a laptop., 6 screws and the motherboard is out in his hand. And then he starts prodding with his Multimeter in places unless you've watched every single video you have no clue where. ugh. I tried something simple, i typed in "How to test Laptop ram voltage with multimeter". Not a f8cking sausage, try find out how to do it on youtube. The first 4 videos are HINDI, and they're recording with their fingernails. This guy does it ALL the time. But zoomed out. He seems to just be toching the red rod of the multimeter on corner of a ram chip somewhere... and boom there's the voltage. I have the power plugged in, I'm tapping the red side EVERYWHERE on the ram chips i can see and am getting nothing by - signs on my multimeter at 20v... HELP!

I have found with some laptops if there is a serial number on the sticker on the back of the laptop you can check on the manufacturers website and you can get the model number up etc.

i have this LENOVO IdeaPad Y70-70 Touch must 17.3" FHD TN Touch, Intel Core i7-4710HQ 2.5GHz/6MB but its dead ,no power even if i plug a power soucre,the battery is good health when i used this but its not turn on anymore even when the battery is conncted to the mobo,only thin what works is the white led when i plug the adapter,when i unblug the while ld shuts down. whats the problem my laptop can u help please ??.
