I've seen this "in the sun" statement so many times. Does someone actually use their computer outdoors constantly? I've never seen anyone using computer on terrace or whatever. Just curious.
Great video. I just testet a BOOX E-ink writer some days ago and the refresh rate was way faster then Lenovos, so it would be already technically possible to make this a bit better. However, I always loved the Idea to get everything with just one device and this seems to go into the right direction :D
I will admit when Lenovo released their yoga book with the e-ink keyboard screen, I was really liking it, aside from the price. I was hoping the next e-ink device would have a color e-ink display, however I understand why they haven't used it yet as they are generally more expensive than the black and white e-ink, and have an even longer refresh time cause it has to do the 3 primary colors seperately. I do however believe they are on to something, however I agree with Lon, the technology is not quite there yet
You really should change to Reader (Article) Mode and show how the screen reacts to only text as you read and scroll. I know it would not be jumping around so much with refreshing. Most people that are interested in e-ink screens are going to mostly be reading on the internet, reading articles, documents(or typing documents if there was a keyboard facing the e-ink reader)..... not watching videos or looking at pictures....Pleasant reading and Eye soothing experiences which are HUGE is your selling point here. People are not going to understand how well this product can probably work for them. I think you dropped the ball on this!!! Please show what I mentioned, if you do another review. Lenovo if you read this, please consider showing a valid, pleasant text reading experience. Thank you
I had a device that used a dual mode display from Pixel Qi that went into a high resolution monochrome mode from color.,, early android tablet from Indian company called Notion Ink called the Adam. Though the monochrome/grey mode had decent refresh if I recall correctly. Was originally crowdfunded…
Super interesting product...would be great to see a smaller 10" thin notebook with the same feature. Would be fun to get the second use of the ebook but like others have said, needs a backlight on the eink display.
Lenovo actually will come out with the lenovo Thinkbook Plus Twist laptop in June 2023. One side of the screen is an eink display that can be used with a keyboard. People have been begging desperately for this option for years or decades. Inexplicable that it's never existed before. But it will finally be a thing. It's going to be $1649, so it certainly could be cheaper, but I've wanted this more than anything for such a long time that I'm getting it anyway.
It's an interesting idea, but looking at the way you struggled to do just about anything with that particular laptop, I'd say it's not ready for prime time yet.
It look interesting. Would one be able to use Firefox on the e-ink display? It does appear chrome works however that is not my preferred. How is switching between browser windows on the e-ink? I want to read from a browser which I do now on a two in one Inspiron. If this machine can display Firefox on this display I would be able to get some good use out of it.
I have the MB Pro 14 with the notch and no it sure what your issue is. Apple decided to increase the height of the display so you are not losing any real estate and most apps cover it if it really is hurting you. Lenovo go with a reverse notch and looks no different and that is okay if you want it. Of all the silly things to worry about, a notch is just churlish.
@@stgenerations I'd keep an eye on it I have a feeling they'll go on sale again soon. It was nuts though the price changed pretty much the same day I uploaded it!
