**EDIT** The WWAN port does NOT actually support an extra m.2 SSD according to the product specifications: psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/ThinkPad/ThinkPad_T470s/ThinkPad_T470s_Spec.PDF I think I had this mixed up with the T470, which does support an m.2 2242 SSD.

I just got one of these used off Ebay for 66 dollars. Added 32 GB of ram and a 72wh battery. It is a great laptop. Previously had a T430s that I gave to a friend after getting this one.

@@aminnairidevUsed Lithium ion batteries vary as to how long they will last. Specifications list them as Front Li-Polymer 3-cell (23Wh) and rear Li-ion 3-cell (26Wh). up to 10.5 hr * Battery life varies significantly with settings, usage, & other factors

As a student, I needed a lightweight computer that would allow me to sit and type on the couch in the library and not have to carry any charging devices, keyboards or mice. I thought this would be a perfect choice.

If it has the same CPU. then the performance should be the exact same as in this video. It's just a smaller laptop is all.

I picked up a t490s on eBay (I7, 32gb ram, 512 SSD) for $280. Probably paid too much but seemed fair for the specs. I really like it. Great vid sir!!

@@jcarter855Thanks! Third party batteries can be good. OEM Lenovo might be harder to find in a newer state. I just purchased a third party battery for my ThinkPad P52 and it's definitely doing the job.

I was under the impression that the second M.2 slot could bot be used on the T470s but only on the T470. So you say a SATA SSD should work?

I just glanced at the specifications and now I am not so sure! I'll have to pin a comment to say that this information is pending me trying it out with a T470s. Hopefully I get some more. I could have sworn I did install the one from the video and tested to see if it showed in BIOS, but now I am second guessing myself. Too bad I didn't do that on camera! Thanks for catching this.

hii , i found the same lap with 8 gb ram , in my country morocco for 240 bucks , and i found too a acer i3 1115g4 8 gb ram and 256 m.2 for 190 bucks , witch one is the best between theme

Can you change the CPU and is the laptop giod for programming?

The T470s does not have a socketed CPU, so you would have to replace the motherboard. CPU is soldered on. I would say it's good for programming, especially learning.

There are a high number of ThinkPads that get released to the refurbished market through surplus (this is how I source and purchase). They are durable, upgrade friendly, and being business class are a step above cheaper laptops found in big box stores. Solid investment.

Generally speaking it will heat up, but I had no problems with thermal throttling personally.

Hello!we just moved out and i can't bring my PC with me i just wanna ask if this can run light games like Minecraft Terraria or might as well steam games??i badly wanna play that games now i know it runs well on light work tasks like editing but i rlly want a decent laptop that can run light games along with a little bit of editing with a cheap price if it does run steam games at a decent performance i might consider buying this nice review by the way 😊

Thanks! If you can find a T480 or T480s for a similar price you'll have the advantage of a 4 core 8 thread i5, which will help a little bit with gaming. Minecraft and Terraria should be ok. Other games will need to have settings and resolution adjusted in order to have a smooth experience.

It's not really a bad idea until something goes awry. Driver support will be geared towards Windows 7, 8, 10. I think you will be ok.

I'm planning to buy a t470s i7-7600U 7th gen. The ram of it is upgradable right? is the 4GB initial ram soldered to the board or also removable? and there's an extra ram slot if I decided to expand right?

Yes, there is an extra RAM slot. I have only tested installing max 24GB RAM (16GB stick)

Well, you could still install Windows 11 by bypassing the tpm 2.0 requirement. Or, you could run Linux.

Not really, unless you don't have another option. It's a 2 core 4 thread CPU, you will want to be looking at 4 core 8 thread, at least.

Yes, you are correct. I was mistaken, the T470s does not support this. The T470 does and I had it mixed up. I pinned a comment to address this about a month ago.

Well, check which one has DDR4 or DDR3 RAM, display resolution on the particular model. Other than personal preferences, performance won't really be too different. I would recommend the 7th gen in the even the 6th gen supports DDR3 in stead of DDR4 RAM.

When servicing laptops, it is a good idea to remove access to electricity. Whether it be to reduce the chance of shorting a hardware component or a user accidentally servicing and removing hardware while the laptop is running the operating system.

It can, but not officially from Microsoft's CPU list. You have to create media with something like Rufus in order to bypass the TPM 2.0 restrictions. It's rather easy, let me know if you want more information.

It would depend on what music production software you want to use. Roblox I assume would be fine, though I do not play it personally.

If you are lucky, good. Battery life is not a guarantee with used lithium ion batteries. They could last for years or they could fail rather quickly. There are third party options, though, so in the event you need one they are available.

On lower settings and lowered resolution, probably, yes. But maybe take a look at some prices of a T480, where you will get a boost in integrated graphics and quad core CPU.

@@imranlion1996 I misread GTA 4 for GTA V. You will be ok with with GTA 4, my mistake. I will be testing out a T480 for a video this week. I personally own a T480s with an i7 and dedicated NVIDIA MX150 (2GB GDDR5) and I can play a wider range of games on higher resolution.
