Please remove the T490s title from the video. The T490s laptop has a different model and process than the T490 and T480s.

This is not Lenovo T490s, wrong tutorial, I think @FixTech1 must know much about the product

You should have shown ho to deactivate battery before the replacement : you risk electric damage by not doing this (go to Bios > power > deactivate battery). Then, once replacement finished, plug the AC back and boot, the bios option will be reset to normal and battery will be connected

This video is not for ThinkPad T490s. T490s keyboard can not be replaced from the outside. This video is misleading! You should edit the title. This video is not for T490s keyboard!!!

Replacing the keyboard on a T490s is way more involved and requires full disassembly.

Hello, not all of the T490s. The most of them have a different process. Basically replacing the top case.

Hello, not always. Some T490s Can have the same keyboard but they also use a different one. You can use the Lenovo website pcsupport.lenovo.com under "Part lookup" with the serial number you can find all the different keyboards compatibility for you laptop. Regards 👋 👋

Hi after replacing my T480 keyboard for layout purposes(US to TR) keyboard backlight no longer works. I replaced the original one but backligt on it no longer works too. Backlight option is also disappeared on Vantage app. What could cause this? Battery was disabled while changing the keyboard.

Did you check the FRU number on the replacement keyboard? Was it the same?

Did you disconnect the internal battery first? If not, it sounds like the fuse on the mb is blown. FYI, this thread isn't about theT480.

@@bp8339 Yes, I did! Fortunately, the problem went away. The backlight is working now. I think the angle at which I was inserting the ribbon cable wasn't correct. If I insert the ribbon cable at nearly a 0-degree angle, the backlight works without problems. I used to insert it at a 45-degree angle and then close the latch.
