I'm happy with the performance of my P620 - it's very fast and I've not had any crashes. Mine is the 3975 with 128GB and RTX 5000. I'm not so happy with the noise of the PSU fan. Lenovo has now sent me three replacement PSUs: two of them had even noisier fans; one of them was dead. I swapped the fan out of the dead PSU into one of the others, and it's OK now. Pretty disappointing quality control though, especially considering how much I paid for it. Oh, and the PSU has no cables. You just pull that black handle and it comes straight out. Great for replacing... not so great if you want to source your own as it is a proprietary connector.

I would prefer to have Xeon as heart any day for my work, would like to know your thoughts on that Appreciate your work, rest whole Indian market is just about gaming PCs and no one cares about the pros and even pros use gaming build, which is ironical

Great machine but our newly purchased ThinkStation P620 suffers from a sudden power loss type shutdown, usually when not under any load. This happens around every 2 weeks. Lenovo repair was unable to resolve the issue.

The lastest news: TR Pro and WRX80 are soon the be avail. for purchase but still unclear to be on the regular comsumer retail store or not. I personally love this P620 and yes it's still be the best chioce to buy if you don't want to build the pc by yourself.

what if we prefer this for a hardcore gaming workstation . Does it will fulfill my needs ? is it worth for hardcore gaming or for a content creation . Please clear this doubt so that i can move furthur for this

Excellent review! I’m sure this is a no brainier, but would still like to know if this machine can handle heavy tasks with Music Production?

Overwhelmingly yes. I dont know if in the 7 months you got a clear answer but I'll clarify some things. This machine is great because music production uses a lot of ram and CPU power. This machine produces a LARGE amount of overhead with the most powerful consumer grade processor. Large number of cores for multitasking, and clock speed for running those tasks fast. Fast storage to transfer data and fast memory to handle multiple recordings and pipe them into a professor that's even faster. Think of this machine and processors/storage similar to these specs as buying a 32 channel mixer vs an 8 channel mixer. You have a lot of overhead that you will most likely use one day. Or for a one off recording a gospel band, you'll be grateful lol.

Excellent man.! From 2002, I assembled nearly 1000 + no's of AMD machines from athlon3200+ to Ryzen 7.. But honourly agree the branded quality from Lenovo Think series PCs is top notch.. Still runs worry free 10+ years machines in my clients.. Just Think series, engineering amazing..

I got a Lenovo P700 on eBay for 600USD, upgraded memory to 64Gb. So happy with this little (but not small) gem. Dual 20 core Xeon CPUs. 14065 multi core score on Cinebench R23...

This is nice, however we havent get the full power of the TR pro yet. We would need too fully populate the RAM.

Good review. You did a great job showing how the Threadripper Pro processor differs from other processors and DIY builds. However, AMD announced that the Threadripper Pro (16, 32, and 64 cores) will be coming to retail. Three Threadripper Pro motherboards (Asus, Gigabyte, and Supermico) will be available as well. (The ASUS WRX80 Pro WS Sage SE WIFI motherboard looks like it has great features.) Hence, you will be able to do a DIY Threadripper Pro build in a few months. Of course, it will not come with on-site support. The case with not have a lock if you need one. Off the shelf cooling and cases might no be as quiet. But you can save a lot over buying a Thinkstation and also tailor the features you want through the motherboard you buy. For example, the Asus motherboard has 7 PCI x16 slots!

Thank you so much David for sharing this information. Since Lenovo India sent us this unit for review, we were only able to share what we knew at the time of recording the video. Can't wait for the Threadripper pro to come to retail and we will have to see at what price this will come for the India region where we are based.

What a confused review. Multiple statements and corrections about memory capacity are wrong. Statements about needing to remove power cable to unplug the power supply are wrong.

The 12 core chip outperforms a 16 core because of the better single core performance on the threadripper pro compared to the ryzen 9 5950x. Thanks for the review, the question has been on my mind for a while now, and this certainly helped. The P620 is a professional system and if someone is looking for those kind of applications (design, AI etc), i would not waste my time and money on a DIY build. Glad to hear Lenovo maintains support even with DIY upgrades. That is certainly I would want to do.

what are you talking about?! Single Core Performance on Ryzen 5950X is way WAY higher than on a TR Pro 3000.

@@claeslind9532 i think you mean multiprocessing. In that case yes. But not many consumer apps for the desktop, today, use multiprocessing.

@@mikyM82 omg... do some proper research. Turbo clock is higher and - much more important - IPC is 20-25% better on a 5950X. Look up for some benchmarks. TR Pro 3000 is old Zen 2 crap.
