Fantastic video. We were able to repair the hinge on our laptop and give my 13 year-old some experience working on the inside of a computer. Thank you for taking the time to show each completed step to the camera.

Thanks for the video, it gave me the confidence to fix my detached hinge. Almost identical problem, fingers crossed the epoxy will hold!

Just out curiousity why do you need to shave of the area with the screws? And also what is the use of the epoxy for? Im planning on doing this soon for my gfs computer

The screws ripped out. So drill out to make space for jbweld epoxy. Then add epoxy and put back together. Screws now hold to epoxy, which now holds to holes.

This glue doesn't appear to be available in the USA. Would GorillaWeld be a good substitute? www.gorillatough.com/product/gorillaweld/

Funny I came across this video... had to do the same repair to my u430 and just used jb weld 2 part epoxy. Any good 2 part should work great.

my black plastic piece where the screws get screwed into the monitor part is cracked.. know where i can get that piece?

How solid is this repair? what kind of life can i expect from it after the repair.

Over the past two years, we have carried out about 40 such repairs. Until today, zero warranty claims.

My solution was to drill holes and use bolts (on the aluminum cover) because the epoxy does not offer guarantee that it will not break again.
