There is a way to remove it, but it’s a lot of work. Without experience, better replace the whole Palmrest.

I have installed an M.2 SSD (WD Blue 3D NAND Internal SSD M.2 SATA - 1 TB, Blue - High Performance) and can confirm that it works well. My old 500 MB SSHD is also installed and is now my backup.

You need a: m.2 m-key ssd, like: wds500g2b0b

No, that's not ram, that's an optional M.2 drive which is which is like an SSD. As a guess the RAM is probably the blue thing to the side of that
