THANK YOU SO MUCH! This video literally helped me put back together the lens curtain component for my Coolpix S6200. I took it apart before finding this video, because the curtain wasn't closing all the way, and stupidly didn't take photos as I took it apart. For awhile, I thought I didn't have any hope of putting the component back together, especially when all four of the tiny springs popped out. I did struggle even with this video since it wasn't the same component, but it was similar enough for me to get it back together and fix the camera so that the curtain functions as expected every single time! THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN!
I have possessed two P7000s and five P7100s. All but one of the P7100s has had this problem, and that one has only survived because it's hardly been used. The design is hopelessly vulnerable to any dust or grit (two Australian beaches with gusts of wind did for two of them) but they just pack up anyway. As someone else has said - it's a crummy design. No wonder they dropped it for the P7700, but then added a rotating screen that's bound to have the wiring fail with endless twisting. I've tried various repairs to the P7000/7100 lens but in the end all you can do is remove the lend cover vanes and the springs and live with out. I found an SLR lens cap that would fit over the whole assembly and resorted to using that. Misery over.
Thank you for this video. Mine does the same thing--closes fine, opens only part way. I think this is a common problem with all the cameras that use this mechanical design, including Canon and others. Rather than trying to repair it I settled for pushing the blades so they snap fully open. Easy.
Hi, a great tutorial. I have a problem with my P7000, I hope you can help me. I have dust and maybe fungus inside the lens. Is there any chance of you making a video in dismantling the lens so I can do the same to mine.... Thanks
hi I Need some help I Have a canon F-1 New with AE-Finder and my view finder shutter speed doesn't match the speed I set on shutter dial so th only way I know what shutter speed I'm actually shooting at is when I look up at top dial
It`s a wonderful cam, CCD Sensor and all manual etc. Another imagequality, analog look - onther style. The problem with the front is a produktion--design mistake. Shit happens. I solved the problem to remove all the blades, found a cap to ensure the lens. Done. Easy and does either what it should. Another big problem is the battery for the date etc. - there is no manual to find it to remove the dead one... By the end one of my most beloved cams.,even nowadays.
Hey! Exactly. I have the problem with the battery for the date. Do you know something about that? I don't know how to fix that on my p7100. The repair is more than 100 Euro, so I would love to do that on my own. Is it realy a batterie or a capacitor and where is it??
