Leo the Lion Doesn't Want to Hunt @ESL-EFLStories
Once Upon a Time, in the vast African savannah, a lion Cub named Leo lived with his family. Leo's best friends were Zara, a baby zebra, and Gerry, a baby giraffe. They played together every day. One day, Leo's parents, King Max and Queen Lila, called him over.
"Leo, it's time for you to learn how to hunt," said King Max."
"But I don't want to hunt," Leo said.
"Why not my son?" Queen Lila asked gently.
"You know that my best friends in the whole kingdom are Zara and Gerry. I don't want to hurt them or their families." Leo explained.
King Max and Queen Lila exchanged worried looks.
"Leo, it's natural for Lions to hunt. It's how we survive." King Max said. "But Zara and Gerry are my friends. How can I hunt when I know it will hurt them?" Leo asked, his eyes filled with tears. Queen Lila hugged Leo. We understand your feelings, Leo. But there's a balance in nature we must follow. Leo shook his head. "I won't do it. I'll find another way." Days passed and Leo Leo spent more time with Zara and Gerry. They talked about Leo's problem, but they couldn't find a solution.
"You're a good friend, Leo," said Zara.
"We wish there were another way," added Gerry.
One day, Leo saw some humans in the savannah. They were making something that looked like meat, but it was from Plants. Leo couldn't believe his eyes. He watched the humans closely and learned how they made plant-based meat. Excited, Leo ran back to his parents.
"I found another way, we can make meat from Plants. I saw the humans do it. It's very easy," King Max and Queen Lila were surprised but proud. You found a solution, Leo; we'll try it. Leo's family learned to make meat from Plants. The queen invited the whole village for dinner: tigers, cheetahs, and leopards; all predators loved the meat that the queen served that night. After dinner, King Max made an announcement. He told the animals about Leo's Discovery and banned hunting throughout the kingdom. Leo was happy knowing that his friends Zara and Jerry would be safe forever. Leo showed that even the biggest problems can be solved with kindness and creativity.
