Praise the lord! 🙏🏻 Someone needed to fill these hollow husks we call songs with some soul…because it sure feels like everything is being filtered into pop music these days.
Ok I haven't adequate words to express how wonderful and nostalgic this young man's music makes me feel. I'm so proud of him, his message, and his celebration of the great foundational sounds of good music.
"River" always moves my spirit. I can't believe it's been 5 years Update: Year 9 🥹. Time is a river that flows away from us all. Love is the pebble that breaks its current into memorable moments. Find your Pebble and hold on tightly.
He used to come into the barber shop with his guitar and a suit on… BUT WHEN HE SANG, I knew then he was going to be GREATNESS MADE OVER!! NICK CHOATE IS WHO ENGINEERED THE EP TO GET HIM SIGNED
That's Jeff Dazey! The dude is outstanding. He's been touring with Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats lately. We saw them on tour and he was amazing.
That's Jeff Dazey. He's toured with everybody, including Tedeschi Trucks Band (who might have the highest band standards in the world). You're right to call him out. Very talented.
+Krista Roman there is a lot of hope for the future of music, i don't think the future of music really needs to be worried about with the many many unique bands and singers that exist today
Just started clapping with the crowd alone in my living room lol. This man is a true gift to humanity. Thank you infinitely for sharing your craft, Leon.
i have never heard this man before, and im 1 minute and 27 seconds in to the first song and i have chills and am fighting back tears of how beautiful his sound is
YESSSS few years back they were both playing red rock (Denver) sad to say I missed this magical performance. Think the Alabama Shakes played that concert too.
to all of the haters commenting..... Getting a life outside of the internet is quite easy, not too mention better for the human soul. Leon is from my hometown and he represents with true Texas class and style. how anyone can be hating on Leon, baffles the mind! I believe he has a wise soul. his taste in vintage clothing is better than sliced bread. his mama holds her head up high with a smile as big as this fine state we live in. she made no mistakes as a parent in my eyes. lol! He is everything that is good in a man, with a golden voice, and lyrically gifted. he has a great head on his shoulders. Since his, literally overnight, fame happened, he seems to remain humble. if we all tried to be even half the person he has grown to be, we'd be living in a kinder society than what the haters here promote. that would be a great thing!
the guys a d bag. ran into him at a local bar in his home town and mine he thinks he's to good to speak to the people in his "hometown" it was disappointing
+ FaceKick =Talented People, aren't always in a great mood. They are allowed to have bad days too, just like you. I'd be willing to bet you pass a few people that you don't speak to every single day.
There is no one in show business like Leon Bridges. His concert at Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater FL was the finest soul man blues Texas boogie panorama I have ever experienced. This is coming from a blues soul rock addiction since the fifties.Just spent the night in paradise y'all. You gotta love Leon.
This young man is taking me back to waking up on weekends with my father blasting music as an alarm clock - always had R&B and straight ahead Blues music playing in the house as a kid. This dude Leon Bridges has an old soul. Love it!
Dislikes? Really? This type of talent and artistry should have millions of views instead of the mainstream crap that's out there. God bless you Leon..Thank you so much!!!
I dont have the words to express how beautiful this is. Especially the harmonies with the lady. They make an awesome sound. Thank u for brightening my day. Gratitude from a 60yr old here in the UK 💫💞🎵💥🎶✌💃
Man I was totally ignorant to the fact there are still young black musicians putting out this kind of music. This is so amazing in so many ways. I can't wait to hear more.
Wow, as if I hadn't already fallen in love with his voice and his words, the final song "River" just transported me to some place magical that I don't often find myself. Thanks Bob and the entire Tiny Desk crew for helping get this fantastic artist some more exposure!
Reviewing this episode, I remember how nice it is to listen to Leon, his songs transport me to a time I didn't live in.. this guy is a music gem and this Tiny Desk is by far one of my favorites and one of the best to date!
Jon John he’s definitely a really nice guy. Living in Dallas I bump into him all the time in the creative scene spots around town. Humble dude just vibing out trying to cut up and enjoy like everyone else
I really appreciate his minimalistic approach to his music, no huge amps, no synthesizers, no10 guitars, un-miced Sax, but the sound is as pure as you could ask for. It just goes to show that you done have to have flash & Cash to be a good musician and create a quality product.
I just learned about Leon this morning on the Today show. Love his sound and music. It is so refreshing and gives me hope for the future of music in not forgetting the artists of our past.
This "Tiny Desk Concert" with Leon Bridges (and his band) shows Leon and the group better than the professional videos, and they seem to be more into the performance as well. Excellent job NPR!
I get such feels when I see this guy perform. He seems like a genuine guy, he's a great artist and everytime people applaud, I like that his whole face lights up. Glad he's getting the recognition he truly deserves.
Who tf hits the dislike button on this? Like I genuinely want to know why they would? Leon Bridges' Coming Home record is a masterpiece that is a shot in the arm back to that Motown sound!
The 1.3k thumbs down are either worthless trolls or incompetent dopes with no taste for talent or music. Leon is amazing and his voice is a gift to anyone with the ability to hear it. Even if this isn't your taste in music, how can you deny the raw talent?
I love Leon Bridges music! Fell in love with him when I first heard his song "River" as a kid and I obsessed over it because in my mind it was a song about my name lol my friends and sisters would be like "You really think this man you've never met wrote a song just for you?" 😖
