My dad , a ragtime/bluegrass guitarist loved Leon Redbone. He passed away 3 months ago and I played this song for him. Am crying my eyes out every time I hear it. I miss him so much. No one understands how I feel.
Someday when all our hearts are reassembled. Love will connect us once again and we'll resume our time together. (Michael Franks.) I'm sure your dad is fine and will see you in your dreams.
As an Old Soul I absolutely cherish Leon's timeless music. Joe Brown, a good friend of George Harrison, performs this song similarly on ukulele. Joe, who ends each of his concerts with this sweet tune, ended the "Concert for George" with it.
Leon Redbone has a unique voice and entertainer. It brings back great memories of my Grandfather who played the guitar and sang songs from this era for a dance band when he was a young man.
We rang in the New Year, the party was winding down, then I saw that Leon has released a new album. Everyone stayed and gave a listen, we toasted each song with coffee or juice, it's now 5 am and what away to start the New Year! Thanks Leon!
grew up to your crazy ways im 42 now and a 100% disabled vet I know how sickness can really take it out of you keep falling forward and thanks for the great music
I like this song and listened to numerous versions. Leon's version appealed to me because I thought it was the best interpretation. I'm not saying he's the best singer that sings the song, it's the interpretation that I like. It reminds me a bit of Gary Shearston's version of I Get A Kick Out Of You - sometimes underdone is best.
Another oldie you do justice to...I admire your wide voice range in listening to your recordings...truly smitten...would love to be able to meet you...xxxooo
this one, wanna go back again blues and but where are you are my absolute favorites from this album. just cant stop listening to wanna go back again blues though, beutifull :)
There's a real Sadness in Leon's voice here its almost like he's saying Good Bye to Everyone seeing this was on his last album it could of been very much the case.

I just now noticed that those are white pelicans he's flying with. White pelicans generally fly up the Mississippi River valley to breed, and then south to the Gulf to winter. Was the choice of bird symbolic here?
