Eh. I don’t believe that. Britney is extremely nice and went through IT more than most other people in the industry. I just think it’s about knowing yourself and learning to stick up for yourself.
@Anne Day the thing is, you're right. I was reading her autobiography called "Dreams" and in it she talks about how when she was on the X factor she didn't want to do a song in a particular arrangement and she simply knocked on Simon's door and told him she didn't want to sing with that arrangement and he was all like ok cool we'll do it the way you want. And the next minute it was arranged the way she wanted it and the musical director did what she wanted. It doesn't work like that. We know from contestants that they have NO creative control. She's also suspiciously smitten by Mr. Cowell in the book which makes you question her comments now. She definitely did have a thing with Simon and propably Clive Davis too as she mentions in the book having meetings with him in his hotel room to discuss music. Why the hell would you have a professional meeting in a HOTEL ROOM?
I've been thinking along those lines too. And I think that's also the reason why certain good singers were booted out much too early or came second in the final.
@@yolandaandinovega9664 Leona has a beautiful voice but she doesn't have power. Which is still great but as far as categorizing her, Mariah Beyonce Jessi J Beyoncé are powerhouse singers. The growl and soul in their voice is what people are most likely talking about. Some people are more into women who really do the rins and soul when singing. But Leona is just as talented. Her voice is just softer and she shouldnt be categorized with anyone. She is who she is in my opinion.
@@portia2880 Leona can sing just as well and powerful as Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. Beyonce is sn awesome singer but, her voice as that powerful.
@@LilSis1679 Leona Lewis is a great singer HOWEVER, her voice is softer and definitely not as strong as that of Whitney's and Mariah's. Leona has her OWN vocal level and she stays within her boundaries and knows her limits just like anyone else knows their own limits.....
love Leona to bits! She is a adorable! She is shy, reserved and down to earth! I am glad the music industry hasn't corrupted her! Beyonce and Rihanna could take a few clues from her!!!!!'!!'!
She seems happier. Like a ton of bricks have been lifted from her shoulders. I'm proud she was able to leave her old label. The fans will benefit from her happiness too. ♥
If i'm honest, i haven't heard from leona in so many years and watching this interview, i'm so glad she has remained humble throughout all these years and i hope she becomes truly successful with her new label and has more control as an artist as to what she envisions
But people should realized it’s not all material things you need in this life as these are temporary and fleeting...these riches will all be left behind when your time is up (when we die we never bring anything with us). Stay humble and grounded!!😍❤️
Then you know nothing. She made millions in a short space of time. Theres 1000s who can sing like her, good promotion is the only reason shes not in a minimum wage job.
i think if she wore prostitute like outfits sing shit songs about nothing - like most so called artists nowadays do - shed still be top ten singers , her soul is beautiful and didnt sell it to devilish industry Go girl !!!!!!go
Leona, you can be more powerful than Simon Clown.....You have a talent and use it to your advantage...maybe can also start your own label enterprise!!!!
+rnugitt have more respect for the man who made her successful through HIS programe- namely the X factor! Would have been a much longer, harder road without it, and then she may not have found fame!
+sunny sim if it weren't for those contestants on xfactor simon would be nothing. capitalizing on talented people. Simon has no talent whatsoever he is a con artist that's all.
+rnugitt Actually, Simon is one of the most talented music producers in the entire world next to Clive Davis. Do you know how much knowledge it takes to get the correct songs and produce and mix them for artists? I mean really produce professionally. It's very difficult to manage thousands of tools on 2 different screens at the same time, all the while avoiding copyrights.
I like the fact that this interview is serious and tackles some significant topics for an artist. Leona was very open talking about it. Most interviews these days are so light-hearted and most of the time artists mostly just talk about trivial things.
You need some glasses. You can see the mascara and eyeliner very well and she would have had foundation on etc. She's a pretty woman but she wouldn't definitely go on a radio or TV without makeup on.
I bought your album Leona...you have a great voice...use your talent wisely as fame can sometimes or even most of the time ruin a person’s personal life and privacy. Balance everything!!👌🏻😍❤️🌹
She is an amazing singer even after 10 yrs of fame. I've always loved how sweet and humble she is and how authentic she is 2 herself. If u can sing live and sound just like or better than the album u can truly sing & hands down she has 1 of the best voices of all time. If u disagree don't comment under my shit but she's the truth just like Deborah Cox, Alicia Keys, & Sia. True voices.
She is such a genuine, beautiful and amazing person. I'm a big fan of X Factor and she was definitely a success story, Simon and Syco did her wrong in the marketing of her last album, unlike they do for bands. I really liked her song lovebird and it definitely could have been a hit.
Very interesting. Im glad I saw this interview. Even though this was years ago when she first left Syco and Modest Management! she seems optimistic and resilient. Wonder how she is now, if she has any regrets after the "I am" era? The industry seems corrupt and sweeps or tanks seemingly promising artists. I don't think her leaving and going to a new label would solve the issue either, she'd suffer the same problem. Many compare her to Mariah Carey or at least the British version of her and that is not good news! That means her talent is not unique, it's been heard of before so there's nothing special that sets her apart from what's been already etched in history. Adele attended the same BRIT School of Arts as Leona but her grit and husky yet resound voice is a breath of fresh air and is the reason she's had much success. Also Leona is not getting any younger, she has to hone and honor that precious talent of hers as best as she can. Many expect her to be on the level she was during the "Bleeding Love" era but she is human and I'm sure singing at that rate all these years later would have completely destroyed her voice by now. Going back to the label, as messed up as it may seem at the end of the day they are a business, they need to stick with what's going to get them the $$$$$$. The talent or act they sign has a job to do and they need to do their part to uphold and represent their brand in the most marketable way possible. Not exactly sure... I know Mariah was with Epic for a time and she still might be but I believe she was on Island too at some point in her career. So maybe that helped further push Leona under all the murkiness in the industry. Simon and Syco love Leona but deep down they are very bitter by her leaving them. Leona helped put Syco on the map but may also have shown to the public if your next few records don't sell very well then we may have to push you off to the side and focus on new artists. But that seems to be the name of the game in all business, either you got it or you don't. I wish Leona well. As long as she makes music that feels real to her, the industry is useless. Just connect with the fans who had your back from the start. -Carl
I love you Leona. I am glad you are happier now. I am glad you are happier now. God bless you. You are beautiful inside and out. Stay close to your soul and your center. ❤❤❤❤
Very talented lady ...she deserves her success. I agree with what she did...staying with the same thing isn't always good. Moving on is sometimes better and in this case it was.
Always nice to feel your own power - today, you can do it all yourself and get off the super-fame treadmill - it doesn't "fit" everyone. I cannot believe some of the comments below. Shit happens with labels, just like this, every day. I remember reading in RU-vid comments that Zane Malik was working at McDonald's and stupid to leave OD lol Yeah, not so much.
all media is trash. Glad she didnt sellout bc its just not worth it !!!! Leona, everybody says you a beautiful person that needs to keep singing. Its not about power but only is about beautiful soul music.
A lot of up-and-coming and even established recording artists could learn some lessons from Leona and how she handled her separation form Syco and Cowell. Honesty is a great policy always and because of it she was able to maintain the mutual love and respect - and support from her former label, yet be able to move on to do what she wanted to do with Island. Kudos to her. She's a very smart woman.
Not really. She was encouraged to think (by someone) that she could be a good songwriter and have "original music. She is not. Sadly, her first album without Syco flopped. Both Island and DefJam in the US have parted ways with her. She appears to be unsigned at the moment. Since Syco made her a multimillionaire, she doesn't need to work unless she wants to, so this is hardly a tragedy,. Nor is Simon Cowell a villain. He has been very loyal to her, even as sales have declined. And because she was unable to have a hit album on her own, it may prove the point that the music industry has moved on and she hasn't moved with it. It is what it is.
Patricia Whitehead .. i am sorry but I have to disagree with your comment. (your opinion).. Simon and Leona still have a supportive, respectful relationship. No one said Simon was ‘the villain’. Because she can now afford too she can choose the music she wants to create and preform when she wants too. She is a powerful and unique singer who has stayed true to herself and her values. 🌹
Omg she is so sweet in this interview or in general. I just want to give her a hug 😊😇😘. I really want her to go global again and I believe she can again just needs better producers. ❤️ ya Leona Lewis
She needs to be dropped by her current label. She has to relaunch her career. Even though her voice is not as it was in early 2010s but she can still ousting almost anybody in the industry. She needs better producers a good vocal coach to strengthen her voice and she is still a force to be reckoned with. She is still young and she is beautiful, her skin is flawless and her eye color pops out. She is so nice too.
Leona Lewis literally has everything a superstar needs and her personality would be a breath of fresh air nowadays. She only needs the things you mentioned
Leona welcome back girl! You’re the best. Super talented, beautiful, and most of all smart. So proud of you girl. You are the epitome of what women’s strength and courage is, and I’m so glad you are now free of all that tried to control your gifts in all the wrong ways. Keep on shining and God bless you!
What a beautiful and humble girl Leona Lewis is. So refreshing to see she hasn’t been spoilt by her fame like so many others are. Stevie Nicks is awesome.
🎤GREAT ARTIST WITH GREAT INTEGRITY.THINGS JUST KEEP HAPPENING AND U HAVE TO JUST GET THROUGH THEM.🎹P.S.I GOT NEW RULES NOW...things R scarey at TIMES...LYRICS HAVE 2 RELATE 2 PEOPLE OR THEY WON'T SELL....check out the MAGIC HAT😘
I've seen here live in Berlin.... don't get me wrong i really like Leona , but live she's not all that..... i was disappointed..... but still love her! looking forward to her new album :-)
So basically she had one massive hit that went global about a decade ago and then she flopped. Now she wants to blame everyone else but herself for not saying relevant. Kelly Clarkson was able to stay relevant and have hits on the radio. Also, Kelly had problems with her record label and she still rocked out.
in order to be or remain successfull globaly ONE HAS TO DO SATANIC RITUALS. she just could not be a part of it. I heard/read that a lot of artists have to sacrifice someone (let kill somebody though the satanic illuminati) to remain successfull....
She is so honest and has such a calming and reassuring demeanor and it's something that is lacking in the world but I feel that it is also something that is holding her back from taking her talent straight to the top worldwide. I sincerely wish that she is able to take her place at the top and that the world is able to grow with her and accept her for who she is and not dismiss her because she doesn't have a "Madonna peraonality". I love Madonna but I also love Leona. I run to Leona when I need to get my thoughts in order or when I need my best friend to listen to me and tell me what I'm doing wrong and how to fix it. Can't imagine my life without Leona.
