In my opinion, arguably the most emotionally touching and well crafted Aussie song we’ve ever been gifted. If not the one, one of the top ones. Often leaves me in tears.
I didn't even know they were Australian . This song popped into my my mind after a dream recently and I couldn't believe that I'd forgotten it after all these years . Beautiful .

Australia was so different back then. I remember migrating from NZ in 1997 listening to this in back of old man's falcon thinking what a beautiful country
i was working on morning shift for security at St Kilda Acland st, sometime in 1999, finished 3pm & waiting the Tram to take me to the city, long story short I heard two people one with the guitar and the lady singing this song sitting on close to me but on top, then I started listening, the tram left it was Sunday and had to wait for next one about another half an hour it worth it I never forget.
In 1998, I can remember driving away from a toxic relationship in a beautifully idyllic tourist town in which I had moved for a few years. I was crying, sobbing and thinking about staying but I knew what I had just been through was really unhealthy. I can remember crying with this song playing. It brings me right back to that feeling of a new start ❤🎉
This song is an absolute marvel. The songwriting and adoring vocals are brilliant. I always felt this song was underrated but I just looked it up, it was nominated for Best Single at the 97 ARIA'S, but snagged by Truely Madly Deeply (predictably). It did collect Song of the Year at the APRA's though. Incredible that it hasn't been covered by an international superstar yet
Saw Abby Saturday night and her voice comes from another planet! Just an amazing babe!!! I told her I used to sing this song to my 3 babies to sleep 😍 I just said Thanks for the great song 🤠🙏
This song brought me to tears last night when Abby sung it so beautifully at the Mushroom 50th Anniversary concert....you are both beautiful and blessed Abby, touched by an angel😢 and the guitar accompaniment was beautifully played too....I will never forget you Baby form the day you bought that dress you wore at the little dress shop on Glenferrie Rd til now, a true blue Aussie beauty oozing talent and appeal...love from a friend and admirer...Mick

Just read this is on APRA's Best Australian Songs list.... Lived and breathed music in Australia all throughout this era, and have NEVER heard this before. Listening to it here, now, I'm underwhelmed.... Welp if I heard it - I instantly forgot about it... Seriously. Is this like popular with a local scene or something? It didn't get to my part of the country.
