The movie is set in the 80s, so the image in his mind is from his 30's, im not sure if thats what you were refering to, but it would make a lot of sense for a 70 year old man.
What difference does his age matter? He has 55 years of experience making them. He isn't a 70 year old mma fighter or olympics contender, he directs movies.
It’s truly his best performance. My mom HATED this movie and she still thought it was ridiculous he wasn’t gonna win. He literally had to almost die of hypothermia to get the award.
@@gardenshock51 Leo won the lottery He has talent He played the main character in one of the highest grossing movies ever All the great directors of this time want to work with him He worked with a lot of great actors who praised him Also in terms of awards he has 7 Oscar nominations at the age of 46 (he is the third young actor ever after Jack Nicholson and Richard Burton) People called him overrated or loser because he didn't win the Oscar but what he accomplished was impressive and he also has 30 years of movies ahead of him
Leo was fine before he started working with Scorsese. They are an amazing team, just like Leo is amazing with Christopher Nolan. They’re all talented storytellers and we’re lucky they’ve chosen to work together.
That is actually something I’ve never been able to put into words. Totally understand what you mean. To think that he is not on paper considered the best actor ever I’ll never understand ever since I’ve seen titanic for the first time He’s been the best actor to me. I might be gay for him. Idk to tell you the truth
@@Kevin12321 Yeah, even though I am hesitant to calling him the greatest actor ever, if I'm asked who is, he is the first name that will come to mind. The only reason I am hesitant is due to my lack of knowledge when it comes to older films but also people like Cristoph Waltz, Al Pacino, Bryan Cranston, Cillian Murphy Daniel Day-Lewis and Tom Hanks exist. Obviously those are only a couple names and only accurate to my opinion of actors and specific movies.
Man, I love watching Scorsese talk about his movies. He has this infectious joy about filmmaking and he seems to be thoroughly enjoying what he's doing.
Leonardo is one of my all time favorite actors. The man can do anything! He is a very composed person in real life, so any time he plays a character who cuts loose it's interesting to watch that transformation. I must also say, I love the magical working chemistry between him and Brad Pitt. They must do more movies together! I love Martin Scorsese as well. He would be a blast to work with. Jonah Hill is also a gem.
Martin Scorsese should've directed a film adaptation of On The Road. His fast paced, high energy filmmaking style would've been perfect to bring the spirit of the book alive. I'm curious to see who he would've had to play Dean
As big as Titanic was, it almost put Leo in a “typecast” role and that was truly horrifying for him. When Leo and Marty made Gangs of New York which in my opinion was Leos return to form, we all had to watch and take Leo serious again. Scorsese is probably the best thing that happened to Leo.
This was phenomenal. Leo is so involved, Martin is virtually genius. Leo has the talk, so far advanced than some actors and actresses - image this all with Winona Ryder for example.
This shows me that whilst I’m a big movie lover I clearly know absolutely nothing about movies. There’s so much complexity behind the scenes that I’m completely unaware of
Read older books and you will receive plenty. To be honest, even books like A Song of Ice and Fire will widen your vocabulary. I would recommend J.R.R Tolkiens books, because he was a professor in languages. Also, try Dante, try Shakespeare. Agatha Cristie mayhaps.
Watching this great interview again, after all these years - my only wish would be to have more cuts between Scorsese and DiCaprio during the dialogue. Bluntly said, I would love to see a perspective of their reactions to each other more.
Martin Scorsese first became aware of Leonardo DiCaprio after seeing him in What's Eating Gilbert Grape? one night when watching TV. He had also been told about him by his friend and frequent collaborator Robert DeNiro, who worked with DiCaprio on This Boy's Life (1993). Scorsese and DiCaprio would later go on to work together on five films, starting with Gangs Of New York (2002).
Jonah Hill deserves all the credit in the world for this movie. He was phenomenal, as were the rest of the cast! Never could have imagined Scorsese directing a movie like this. I hope he keeps surprising us for years to come!
He filmed Dallas Buyers Club after The Wolf of Wall Street so was preparing himself for the role, that's why he's thin in the movie. And his apperance isn't a cameo, he's a supporting role. He's listed in the main cast member billing
No bs, I've been watching that movie since high school and it must've been more than 60-70 times by now. Still counting & still not bored even for a second.
Seeing a lot of comments about how great the film, director, & actors are. All that is all true, however, I would like to see more discussion concerning the issues films like this (The Big Short, War Dogs) bring to light. Government is inherently corrupt, & in so being, produces a morally bankrupt society. Economy is based on debt, commercialism, & consumerism. There is no substance to it, & due to that, people are depressed, unfullfilled, & anxious, but they don't know why because they are intentionally not taught the powers of analyzation due to a compulsory government "education" in which one is taught to regurgitate state propaganda, not to think for himself. "It is no measure of good health to be well adjusted to a sick society." -J Krishnamurti
I just saw half and I'm glad there's another half, lost my job got another one within days but I needed this to uplift my spirit and its My Brother Diego's Birthday I'm glad I watched it on his special day 🎉 33:57
Leo is a great actor - he can choose a story he wants to make, he can even change the story or his character if he thinks it's more fitting like the upcoming 'Flower moon..' He has that kind of power. He is Scorsese's muse much like Robert De Niro to Scorsese. Joaquin Phoenix even admitted in his Oscar speech that there is only one kid whom he and Christian Bale always loses - that's Leo.
Charlie Rose team: At 9:33: "LEONARDO DICAPRIO, 'SCREENWRITER'". What?!?! Especially after Leo just praised (and ever so rightly so) the insanely talented Terence Winter for his incredible script!
On my must-watch list. Today the real "The Wolf of Wall Street’s" Jordan Belfort ex-wife, Psychologist Dr. Nadine Macaluso appeared on "The Doctors" TV show. Apparently she helped Margo Robbie who played her character to master Fran Drescher accent and other tips.
Is this the real Leonardo DiCaprio? If so, it is a nice surprise!💙 What an awesome gesture from you to take time to respond directly! I happen to be a Background Performer (BG) in movies & TV shows and been on set with Chris Hemsworth, Sarah Paulson and a few others while filming in Ontario Canada. I hope some day to be part of your casting when you are shooting in Toronto too!💙💙
