Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone and Martin Scorsese sit down to discuss the Oscar-nominated 'Killers of the Flower Moon." bit.ly/VarietySubscribe / variety / variety / variety
its really wholesome to see/hear scorsese so satisfied and happy with his work, like at his age to still be improving and caring about his craft is wonderful. im glad that everyone who worked on the film is happy and enjoyed the process.
Lily’s face is beaming while Scorsese sings his praises of her her, and Scorsese misty eyes show how much this story moved all of them. Their time in the community & with the Osage really stuck with them, telling this story felt paramount to them.
@@lexkanyima2195 They are great but Tom Cruise and Leonardo DiCaprio are way more famous around the world. For people outside the US, DiCaprio and Tom Cruise are literally Hollywood.
Agreed. The fawning over Oppenheimer is obnoxious. That movie frustrated me with its bloated running time, & I couldn't hear the dialogue most of the time. Killers of the Flower Moon I thought was amazing.
DiCaprio was superb in Killers of the Flower Moon. He deserves an award. The movie was wonderful as well. It was presented to its viewers as an important part of history!
It's shocking Leo won his Oscar for a character who spent a few hours grunting in the snow after being mauled by a bear but wasn't even nominated for his subtly oscillating performance of a compromised but compelling character like Ernest.
@@lukewilliam3601there are elements of it that are broad, especially during the crime planning scenes, but there are tons of beats that are very subtle as the movie builds to its conclusion.
@@mohammedkhadeer9887 out of curiosity…is this supposed to be an original comment? The character has an underbite. People are making way too big a deal out of the prosthetics.
I don’t care how long that movie was. It was and still is amazing film. I also love that it was 3hrs 26mins long. So worth it. Hope Lily Gladstone wins an Oscar for this, maybe Martin Scorsese could finally wins his 2nd Oscar for Best Director, or maybe for Best Picture.
Lily Gladstones laughter is so infectious and genuine she is amazingly beautiful discerning compassionate and comfortable with herself. I pray Hollywood perversions never change the natural virtuous beauty of this precious woman.
She is an actress, that means she wants what every other actress wants, Money, fame, spotlight, to rub shoulders with powerful directors and Producers, stop painting her as a saint, Infact had she been a saint she would Have been useless to them.
@@user-nn7nt1tq2eLily is a great person with a wonderful heart. A hard worker, and fun to have around. She loves people and wants to help others how she can. She’s been diving deep for years and deserves success, health, financial stability and happiness.
If Lily Gladstone doesn’t win best actress at the Oscar’s it will be the most devastating things that ever happened to me because the story she told through her eyes her body language her dialect her emotions was so important and deserves to be recognized
I love Lily Gladstone so much. Sitting there with that shy smile while one of the greatest filmmakers in the history of cinema heaps compliments on her.
What Marty says at the end about him watching the film is interesting to me because halfway thru watching it the thought occurred to me ‘no one directed this film, it just happened’. And when he shows up as a character the feeling intensified. There’s a transcendent realness to the picture.
The Killers Of The Flower Moon became One Of My Favorites Films Ever!! The direction from Scorsese, the production and the actins from Leonardo Di Caprio, Lily Gladstone, Robert De Niro and others it's so brilliant and perfect!! Also i read the Killers Of The Flower Moon novel from David Grann and it's Amazing!! 🎥📖🔥👏🏻
It's a remarkable film. I'm so glad Martin chose to make it in order to bring this heartbreaking story of what the Osage people endured into the spot light. I certainly wasn't aware of the Osage murders until a few days before watching the film.
It has to overcome a huge obstacle as the last time a film win best picture without screenplay nomination was when Titanic won best picture while missing screenplay nom in 1997. Overall only about 7 films in 95 years Oscar history, this has happened... so i won't sweat it
It’s really one of his best movies in I would say in a long time. Especially in a time when movies aren’t special like this anymore . It was a story that was sad but needed to be told . The first 15 minutes i had tears in my eyes and that’s when I knew. He has one . Marty you did it again one of your best EVER
I enjoyed this film. It was long but incredibly beautiful and powerful. I was intrigued by every character, it was more a subtle slow build, I was hooked to see where it was going to go. Molly is a survivor, the strongest character among all of them, silent but deadly.
Love that Lily speaks with a presence of empowerment. Prayers that Creator can continue to empower her and our Indigenous people's across Turtle Island. May our stories be told and may they be heard. May our Ancestors be honored and our 7 Generations before us be blessed by whats happening today.
Leo DiCaprio was almost cast as Detective Tom White , but he felt that it’d make it another movie about indigenous people seen from a white outsider perspective, so it was written to bring Ernest and Millie Burkhart more into focus, and tell the story from within the Osage community. So Jesse Plemons plays Tom White, who doesn’t actually appear in the film until the 3rd hour.
I am so happy for Martin Scorcese and Bob de Niro. They have had an impact on my cinematic experience and this movie is one of those, that they always gave to the people so generously. As for Lily and Leo, they are up there with the greats, having created iconic characters in film. Much love ❤️.
Definitely not a movie that I could rewatch , I've never felt so many strong emotions and a short period of time . I loved it though but I didn't know that I could cry so hard
Killers of the flower moon the best movie of the year, 100% oscar deserve but leonardodicaprio not nominated best actor why?? I don't know, but Leo Leo 👑👑🔥🔥
Edit, unsure if Movie is out yet. Rural Northern Californian mostly out there, it looks like a must See and I should be a movie goer again, has it been released, it seems not.
Great interview. Sincere and humble. I wish more people knew how truly dedicated to authenticity Scorsese was to this project and the Osage Nation. Lily became so connected to the people, she has returned to Osage County multiple times since the movie wrapped. She was there last week the day Oscar nominations were announced, and celebrated with tribal members. Best wishes to the nominees, including Scott George for Best original song…’Wahzhazhe (A Song For My People)’ seen here as head drummer (green shirt). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lXDVKYSc1g0.htmlsi=OsFIQES_Zlk950i7 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Uj8W25Ki8so.htmlsi=_7nM7yLX7kFnHu6O
The film was brilliant. My favourite of last year. It should win many Oscars, but like The Irishman & Gangs of New York, it will be ignored. Only Lily Gladstone has a chance of winning, but Scorsese deserves another one. The fawning over Oppenheimer is incredibly obnoxious. This movie was bloated, with a pretentious time shifting structure only done to justify the ending. I couldn't hear the dialogue because of Nolan's obsession with hard to hear audio. Killers of the Flower Moon was a little longer, but I didn't feel the length because of Thelma Schoonmaker's incredible editing. She also deserves to win another Oscar. Scorsese continues to make great, great films at 80, & he is vastly more diverse as a filmmaker than he is given credit for.
I appreciate that Scorsese told the story from the white man’s perspective, that’s appropriate. But I believe it would have been a much deeper and even more powerful movie if told from the Osage perspective. I hope that happens too. When DiCaprio refers to “the backstory,” is he referring to the Osage perspective?
i would consider myself a movie buff but turns out i've only seen, and favored: The Last Temptation of Christ, Goodfellas, and #FlowerMoon, correction: The last temptation of Christ was fine but my favorite is The Passion Of Christ by Mel Gibson
