the recording shows another way of that eve .. been there and must say .. Behrens lost her strong voice from before and was only able ta sing Elektra as a young maiden .. which was stunning at parts esp in the beginnings .. but didn`cover the whole range of the role Leonie Rysanek was the Goddess we all knew her for ... her mad laughters i will never forget, her presence and musically perfection .. THAT WAS A NIGHT TA DREAM OF JUST BECAUSE OF HER !!!!! RIP Madame and be loved be so many Opera goers .. your not not forgotten and never will be !!

@@Classicvideofan on était dans la loge d'Hildegard Behrens à Pleyel en 98 lors de cette Elektra qui était dédiée à la mémoire de Leonie Rysanek décédée moins d'une semaine plus tôt. On se croisait souvent dans les années 90 dans les salles de concert. Revoyons nous avec plaisir avant cet été si vous êtes à Paris.

Yes, even though this was maybe not the best perf of Behrens I saw in Elektra ... but this perf was "electric" ... It is very nice and a great reward that such an opera connaisseur like you can express his appreciation ... it was a tuff and stressful work to do these recordings ... your appreciation really is my greatest reward ... I will upload much more in future of unreleased great video recordings (years 90-2000) ... stay tuned ;)

The connoisseurs keep this strange and beautiful artform alive because of their love for it and it is always a pleasure to meet another true lover. Behrens is so wonderful as Elektra - this might have bee a bit late in her career. But those Met Elektras that were filmed - I wish I could have seen them live.
@@Classicvideofan sadly no . . . but I just sent this message to a friend when I shared your video with them - "All I am thinking is - I wanted to BE THERE!!! what money I would have paid to see this . . . " I have seen both artists live - one of HB's last Brunnhilde's at the Albert Hall in 1998, and I saw Leonie as Tosca and Sieglinde in Sydney in 1985 . . . some of my most striking operatic memories.
