A leopard hunting in a tree is amazing to watch. They are not small cats, but can effortlessly leap around the branches as if they are light as a feather. Amazing animals!
I was 100% sure that monkey was just going to be able to keep his distance, but holy shit that final burst of speed in the top of a tree! Heavily underestimated the leopards agility and guts to make that final jump :o
@@mr.google7364 ...I notice that you are going about trying to correct people; but, you also need correction on your own poor sentence construction. Did RU-vid employ you as a "Comment Editor"? Leave the people alone!!!
This is a big difference between a leopard and a jaguar. Leopards are, as we've just seen, extremely well-adapted for hunting in trees. A jaguar, however, couldn't do this, because they're adapted more for hunting in water. Jaguars regularly kill crocodilians, large fish, and turtles for food, whereas leopards rarely do.
My cat also does this. He moves at a certain speed most of the time but can astonish in a split second with extra range and speed. I think they do this on purpose, keeping their max speed hidden and making their target feel secure, and then use that secret speed and range as a secret weapon for closing.
@@wrestler-kickboxer2524 - Actually since adult males weigh between 82 and 198 pounds, it stands to reason that at some point, they could weigh 180 pounds. I like to look things up before putting it out there, not working for CNN. . . Full disclosure: Another site says Males weigh between 80 - 165 pounds. So you actually could be correct. Lol, maybe after the 165 pound male eats a 15 pound monkey, it'll temporarily weigh 180. : )
I've seen it dozens of times. A leopard is more graceful than a heavy lion or tiger. Monkeys are very afraid of all three, but most of the time the leopard has a better chance of getting the monkey.
@Iggi Valencia. Actually in the dark they make no noise at all, so if you sit on a tree and it’s pitch black outside and you don’t have lighting, sorry, you won’t hear it or see it coming. My point is that the leopard is the master of stealth especially when you can’t see them, I like to call them the Night Ninjas of the cat world.🥷🐆They also mostly hunt at night so that makes them even more lethal. Some also call it the King of the Trees of the cat world.
How dId the leopard gain such lightning speed upward from such flimsy, crooked and short branches while tracking the moving target? The leopard closed the upward gap like a bullet. INCREDIBLE!!!
The crazy thing about this hunt is that the leopard did not chase the monkey directly..it infact predicted its direction n path on the tree and intercepted it at blinding speed..master class hunting
Wow!!! What? How? This is spectacular film footage. I knew leopards were agile but damn! Just a beautiful animal and physically impressive. Thank you for this video.
You have to give it to these animals because they truly deserve their hunts, unlike us humans who hunt thousands of miles away through the barrel of a rifle.
If I could leap through trees and kill game with teeth and bare hands I guess I would.....its not a feasible option considering the state of affairs of the human condition.....its fair to use tools pal....your most important weapon in a hunt is your mind
My house cats do crazy things like jump ON TOP of the fridge from the floor and not knock anything off the top of the fridge. Cats are amazing creatures!
So what? Put any leopard behind any springbok he would be lost. Not the cheetah. Try against hyenas pack, leopard would flee. Not lions. Try a leopard taking down alone on one single bite most heaviest and powerful cappe of the world (Gaur of 1.5T). Thay absolutely cannot do this. All cat species are totally unreal.
I have been to Sabi Sands - Kirkman's Camp in 2012. Was an awesome experience!! Wonderful food, service, hospitality. Awesome morning, afternoon and some night time game drives. Bunu bashing with those Landrovers - you don't wait for game, you go to them!! Would love another visit!! If you have been to Paul Kruger National, well it is nothing in comparison to a real game drive!! 🤨
What a great cat and it's hunting skills Is there any place left that leopard 🐆 can't hunt Under the soil : warthog Inside river: crocks On the land : impahala And now in the sky : monkey Lmao 🤣🤣 real badass 😂
For a moment I thought the leopard had realized this was a waste of energy, but then it struck me, this is a leopard. I've seen them do amazing hunts. The leap, and Boom!!!!!!
Fantastic, you´re so lucky to witness that hunt. While I was in Kruger just about a week ago, I saw a leopard hunt in which the leopard kill a impala. However, this is a once in a lifetime hunt.
Wow ! Leopard has guts to first of all leap to the next tree which is spaced apart from tree its on. Then to climb the next tree n leap n catch the monkey on the thin branches ! The monkey instinctually thought it was safe in the upper branches n will leap to the previous tree if the leopard came any closer. Yikes ! Unreal n Amazing ! Kudos for vid. Anticipating next one
