@@eterntals well I don't think he said that the sound they made was fake. I think what he was getting at is most nature shows need to create a narrative to make you the viewer emotionally invested in what's happening. So, yes, there is tons of editing so that the images you see fit the narrative the show is trying to sell to you. It's all very manipulative.

It’s Antarctica - none of these animals have any sense of humans. The penguins have no land predators, so humans are at most a curiosity, but most likely of no interest at all.

@@MrMuel1205 but humans are pretty big. They only grow up to maybe 3 feet, while the average human is around 5. Plus with all the clothing to prevent themselves to turning into a popsicle. Humans would look a lot bigger than them. Like, imagine an 8 feet thing coming towards you. You don't know what it is, but you would probably go the other direction.

I love how any BBC documentary occasionally adds humor into nature. They’ll add music to bears scratching their backs making it look like their bears are dancing, playful music to dolphins using pufferfish as balls or the exaggerated effect to the leopard seal coming out of the ice.

It’s strange to think that Antarctica’s ecosystem is basically made up of the few creatures that could survive the cold and were capable of traveling to the island with no competition. But when sea birds became penguins and challenged the seals for fish they evolved to simply eat the penguins. Islands are epic.

Basal penguins were around since the Cretaceous and the oldest remains date to not long after that (62 mya). Penguins were in the Antarctic long before seals existed.
