Leroy Anderson: 'Serenata' arr. for piano duet

I have reuploaded this as the recording level was too high.
This arrangement of 'Serenata' - composed in 1947 - was a project we laboured over on and off for a couple of years. I started it off using the piano solo version as a guide and my wife did the lion's share of the work, notating the rest from orchestral recordings by ear. You can hear the latin influence in this piece in the opening fanfare and the backing rhythm. A fantastic piece of light music and a joy to play as a duet!

Yes, I'm deadly serious - no joking around with trivial video effects on this channel, just boring, boring hands and the occasional face in the duets :) I've reduced the volume as well, as it was a bit too high. Thanks for listening and great to hear from you as always!

Wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed your arrangement, and you play so well together almost as one! 🙏🙏I know there is a piano solo of Anderson's "Sleigh Ride", perhaps you could do the same kind of thing for Christmas that would be really nice. 🙂

Thank you Steve - we're looking into redoing the Sleigh Ride (we recorded it many years ago - I think it's on my wife's channel - but on our old upright piano). We have two different arrangements of it and I think we will adopt the best bits of each one when (if) we try again. Serenata is probably the longest of LA's light music pieces and his orchestration is just brilliant. But it seems to me that on the piano different elements of the music become audible.

Sorry, I can't give you the arrangement, but you can find the solo version in the book of Leroy Anderson piano pieces (easily available) :)

Not at the moment, I'm afraid. Most of the arrangements are from a book published in Japan and long out of print - details are on the Leroy Anderson uploads on my wife's channel (itchy2345). It's the sort of thing you might come across on eBay.
