On the contrary, if i were a billionaire and had won the lottery, first I would end that god awful announcement heard at the start and end of every ride as a carousel is a moving art piece not some rodeo horsey ride hoo hah flotsam. Second, I would have this 1906 machine moved to a more suitable location such as a city park, then I would have a few of the horses switched back to normal as well as a new Wurlitzer 165 replica band organ with frame work built by Bruce Newman to replace the original located at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
@@andrewlardieri4110I agree 100% As a person who grew up in San Francisco and rode this carousel 100+ times when it operated at Whitney's Playland at the Beach, I admit this current building was much too small to house this beautiful historic Charles I.D. Looff carousel. Also when it operated at Whitney's Playland it had 4 working band organs that were positioned on the inside of the riding platform. The 1918 Wurlitzer 165, two Wurlitzer 153's and an Artizan style D band organs. I remember that the lights also ran circular on the swoopes as well as on the outside of the Looff's rounding board. It was housed in a big true hippodrome building that matched it's architectural beauty. Although I like it's wonderful restoration when it came back to SF from Long Beach, I never liked the building it now is housed in, nor do I like the canned music or the stupid ship bell that starts the ride. I guess I at least should be glad that it was restored and still operates in SF as Charles Looff intended it to operate, but this beautiful historic merry go round deserves a better location in the City of San Francisco!!!!! 👍🎠
