while all of the other kids' beautiful voices make me wanna cry, at 1:04 the music stand boy with a pitchy tone tries to sing for a moment and immediately stopped by the teacher make me LOL
The scene of the little out of tune boy being shushed, reminds me of Mindenki(Sing), the winner of this year's Oscar short. Different vibe, as this is delivered in a playful comedy like scenario. But interesting indeed.
This movie has been my favourite growing up, even though I grew up in Germany and it's a French movie. There's a German version, either with subtitles or actual voiceover, I don't remember. The point is - I wish they did that with English, too, cause this film deserves recognition worldwide, it's fantastic beyond what any modern movies are capable of!
They did. I watch the film with subtitles, so I don't know if there is a dubbed over version. The film was released to theatres in America about a year after its release in France. It was nominated for quite a few awards both in England and America. My school uses it at the end of 3rd Year (Year 9) after exams, because it means they can get away with showing a real film that is both captivating and educational.I fell in love straight away, and bought the subtitled version, and leant it to several classmates over the following years. So it does have international recognition. Also, your point about modern movies. I would, in general totally agree, only this movie was made in 2004! I know that is over 10 years ago now, but I still wouldn't class it as old my any means.
We have just finished watching this in our GCSE french lesson. This is SUCH an unbelievably good film. I was in tears by the end. It was so hard trying not to cry when he (the supervisor) was leaving, and the children giving him messages and singing for him. I'm going to buy it on DVD soon
Jean-Baptiste has a heavenly voice and an angelic face. What a beautiful boy! I can never help grinning like an idiot when he's smiling all through that last bit.
I remember watching this several years ago. Then we rented it on Netflix again. I cannot stop watching this movie, as well as watching Jean on RU-vid perform or talk. This is a movie that never gets old. I find it funny how deep his singing voice is now.
This movie is eternal and unique. It highlights the celestial value of children on earth and ever more, spiritually and musically, the value of children as choristers. One day, all children, regardless of age, will so joyfully and majestically sing in heaven and on earth. It is a movie that pours out continually sparkles of heavenly eternity onto and into the hearts of people! A sweet memory, forever in my heart! Also, the choir teacher is such a wonderful man!
Excellent!!!!!, when I watched this movie the first time I just couldn't believe it, great voices, just like angels, even today and hearing them I can´t avoid tears falling from my eyes
The sentence at the end is so full of emotion and also, it "sounds" so well in French!
Letra / Lyrics ESP: ¡Oh, noche! ENG: Oh, night! Come and give the Earth the calm enchantment of your mistery The shadow that escorts it is so sweet so sweet is the concert of your fingers singing hope so big is your power: transforms everything in dream. Oh, night! Leave still on the Earth the calm enchantment of your mistery the shadow that escorts you is so sweet Is there a beauty as beautiful as dream? Is there a truth sweeter than hope?
A male soprano is like a butterfly....the beauty only lasts a short time, but it's a sight/sound to behold while it lasts. Not as technically perfect as a female soprano, but compelling nonetheless.
